The magic and glamour of the ballroom is back with the seventh series.
After weeks of hard work, blood, sweat and tears in the lead up
rehearsals for the first episode of Dancing with the Stars, the latest
celebrity contestants frocked up and took to the dance floor to
perform their first dance, the cha cha or the quickstep, in front of a
live national audience.
The top score for the night went to Patti Newton and her partner
Sandro for their Cha Cha to Mambo Italiano, with the judges scoring
them 34 out of 40 and the audience rising to their feet with a
standing ovation.
Bridie Carter was a close second with a score of 42.
Battling it out for equal third place was David Hobson, James Courtney
and Mark Beretta with a score of 27, followed closely in equal fourth
place was Jessica Rowe, Anh Do and Corinne Grant.
They may have won Olympic medals but swimmers Elka Graham and Michael
Klim didn't fare as well on the dance floor, with Elka scoring 23 and
Michael with the lowest score of 19 for the night.
