DiscoMost Disco dances have strong roots in Swing, Samba, Cha Cha,
Mambo, Merengue, Fox Trot and Tango. The Hustle is believed to have
originated in New York in 1970. It went through many variations in the
1970s, with line dances for groups of people, solo movements that came
and went, and partnership dances. These partnership dances included
The Basic Hustle, Latin, Spanish and Tango Hustle, and the most
popular Street, Three-Count or Swing Hustle that originated in
California as the street Hustle by skaters in Venice and Malibu. Disco
is often danced to contemporary pop music of the last 20 years.
Kouta stays alive
SalsaSalsa is a Spanish word, which when translated literally means
"sauce". Hot, spicy, and full of exotic Latin flavour, the dance is
true to its name. In terms of footwork, steps in all directions are
normally taken first with the ball of the foot in contact with the
floor, and then with the heel lowering when the weight is fully
transferred. The hip action is usually relaxed and subtle, especially
for men. In general, arms are held at or slightly above waist level.
The Salsa hold is considerably more relaxed than the basic Latin hold,
allowing for more freedom of arm movement.
Chris Hemsworth fires up the dance floor
Argentine TangoThe Argentine Tango is a social dance that originated
in the bars, clubs and brothels of Argentina in the late 1880s. With
less expressive and more intimate movements than the Ballroom Tango,
the Argentine Tango is characterised by close embraces and a definite
lead and follow pattern. It's danced in an embrace that can vary from
open, in which the leader and follower connect at arms length, to very
closed, in which the connection is chest-to-chest, or anywhere in between.

Ballroom
Modern WaltzIn the early 19th Century another turning dance, the
"Waltzen", became popular in many parts of Germany and Austria, with
local variants named after their area. The popular step from Landl ob
der Enns in upper Austria became known as the Landler. Meanwhile, a
more sedate form of the fast Viennese Waltz evolved in America around
1834, known originally as the Boston. The Modern Waltz is said to be a
combination of the Landler and the Boston derived in England about 1910.
Alicia and John-Paul waltz up a storm
Modern TangoThe Modern Tango is probably a result of Spain's Flamenco
dance merging with the African slave dance the Tangano, and a host of
other folk dances infiltrating South America. In the Buenos Aires
slums in the late 19th century, they both merged with the Habanera – a
Cuban folk dance – to provide a new step; the Milonga. Originally the
Milonga was a soft private dance, with emphasis on leg movements. In
Paris in the 1930's, it was combined with other ballroom dances and
given a staccato action, moving the emphasis to the torso and head, a
characteristic which remains.
It takes Ky and Masha to tango
FoxtrotOne story says it was introduced as the Castle Walk into
nightclub performances of Vernon and Irene Castle, and popularised by
Harry Fox in the stage show Ziegfeld Follies in New York in 1913 - and
named after him. Others say it mimicked the gait of a horse, or even a
fox. Regardless, the step was fashionably rebellious against 19th
Century dancing, as it used parallel feet rather than turned out feet
used in Victorian dances. About 1922, the trotting steps were
discarded for a less energetic movement called the Saunter and by 1927
it was called the Slow Foxtrot with gliding movements.
Foxy couple, Chris and Trenton
QuickstepAs Ragtime music evolved into Swing through the 1920s, new
dances the Charleston, Shimmy and the Black Bottom became popular in
America. Elements of these three dances, popularised on stage by the
Ziegfeld Follies became absorbed into a faster version of the Foxtrot
after a visit by Paul Whiteman's band to the UK in 1923. The
Charleston step and the Scatter Chasses were introduced into the
Quickstep by Wally Fryer and Vi Barnes in London in the 1940s.
Ada and Aric demonstrate perfect Quickstep form
Latin
RumbaThe Dance of Love, the Rumba is the most sensual of Latin dances
with the lady dominating the man using her womanly charms.
Incorporating teasing and withdrawal, partners dance to each other not
the audience.
Leeanne and Dicko perform a red hot rumba
SambaThe word Samba is supposedly derived from a West African Bantu
word meaning "to pray" or invoke spirits of ancestors. It is said to
be a dance that can send people into a trance. It is danced annually
at Rio's Carnivale.
Brodie sizzles
Jive From its start in 1927, the Jive shocked adults who tried to ban
it. American GIs in World War II took it to Europe but it was danced
underground due to its "corrupting influence". It's a variation of the
Jitter Bug adding rock'n'roll and swing.
Ada gets down and jives
Paso DoblePaso Doble Made famous in the movie "Strictly Ballroom", The
Paso Doble is a Spanish gypsy dance based on the bullfight. The man
represents the bullfighter, Torero, and the lady his red cape or
cappa. It is danced to the characteristic march music used for the
procession at the beginning of a corrida.
Chris and Trenton do the Paso Doble
Cha ChaWhen the English dance teacher Pierre Lavelle visited Cuba in
1952, he saw the Rumba danced with extra beats. He returned to Britain
and began teaching these steps as a new dance.

Following on from last week's excitement and Farmer Dave's departure
our four remaining couples head onto the dance floor tonight which
will lead them down the road to the Grand Finale. Tonight things will
really get serious – which couple will be having their last dance?

Suave host Daryl Somers introduces co-host, Sonia Kruger, stunning in
a bold tartan-inspired gown from Myer, and the Dancing with the Stars
esteemed panel of judges - Todd McKenney, Helen Richey, Paul Mercurio
and Mark Wilson. Each couple is introduced while anxiously waiting to
perform the routines they haven't performed before in this series
along with a group routine.

The night started in dramatic fashion when Fifi Box tumbled down the
stairs during rehearsals, taking her partner Paul Green with her. "He
said we were in this together and I took him quite literally," said
Fifi. They were carried off set and rushed for x-rays to assess their
injuries and determine if they could compete.

Up first tonight was the cheeky Home and Away star, Tim Campbell and
his partner Natalie Lowe. The couple once again thrilled the studio
audience, the judges and fellow dancers with their sexy yet classy
cha-cha routine.

Scores: Todd 9, Helen 9, Paul 9, Mark 9 = 36

Kate Ceberano had joined Dancing with the Stars for one main reason,
to dance the tango, and tonight she got her chance. The sultry singer
and musician, dressed in a royal blue frilled frock and her partner,
John-Paul took to the floor for with an emotional and dramatic tango.
The judges and audience were impressed by the couple's choreography
well-suited ballroom routine.

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 9, Paul 9, Mark 9 = 36

Sashaying onto the dance floor next was environmentalist and
horticulturalist Jamie Durie with his striking partner Amanda Garner.
The couple brought an old-fashioned vibe into the room with a slick
Foxtrot routine. The judges were impressed by the couple's improvement
and serious attention they've given during rehearsal.

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 8, Paul 8, Mark 8 = 32

Despite a tumultuous tumble down the studio stairs in rehearsals
earlier in the day, Fifi Box was given the all clear by medical
advisors and with modified choreography and pain killers, she and her
dashing partner Paul Green took to the floor with a Paso Doble
routine. The judges were inspired by the gutsy effort and remarkable
choreography considering the routine was altered as a result of the
earlier accident. Fifi wished her dance did not include so much
stomping on her injured ankle.

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 8, Paul 8, Mark 9 = 33

A spectacular surprise was in store for our audience with a live in
the studio performance from the delightful Dannii Minogue with her
latest disco-inspired new release 'He's The Greatest Dancer'
especially for Australian audiences.

Another surprise for this evening was a Viennese waltz undertaken by
the all the Dancing stars at the same time! What a spectacularly
elegant effort from everyone! The costumes, the wigs, the makeup, the
music, the jewellery, the frocks, the white stockings on the men - we
were all transported back to the Royal Courts of Europe in the 17th
Century!

And for the seventh elimination episode for this series, just who will
be the next star to rest their Dancing shoes? In nail-biting moments,
our hosts gradually revealed which couple would be dancing again next
week and sadly, Jamie and Amanda's journey has finished.

The final three celebrities vying for the title of Dancing With The
Stars Champion are singing sensation Kate Ceberano, Home and Away
actor Tim Campbell and radio sweetheart Fifi Box.

Despite serving up a strong performance, Todd Woodbridge was a
surprise departure from Dancing with the Stars last Tuesday night.
Tonight the competition was heated for the six remaining dancing stars
– in an Australian first the celebrities harnessed disco inferno as
well as a dance they had not performed before and for one celebrity it
would be their last dance.

Daryl Somers introduced his stunning co-host, Sonia Kruger, who looked
stunning in a glittering Ruth Tardyas gown available at Myer and
jewellery by Hardy Brothers, and the esteemed Dancing with the Stars
panel of judges - Todd McKenney, Helen Richey, Paul Mercurio and Mark
Wilson.

Each couple excitedly headed to the floor while being introduced for
their performances of two different dance styles - Disco and a classic
routine they haven't performed before.

The first performer of the night, in a Roman gladiator themed outfit,
David Graham and his muse Eliza Campagna took to the floor with a
heady Paso Doble routine. Although the judges congratulated Eliza on
her efforts and remarked on the combination of this competition –
popularity and ability to dance, David failed to impress the judges.

Scores: Todd 1 Helen 1, Paul 1, Mark 1 = 4

Dressed in a flowing raven gown, the sizzling singer and musician Kate
Ceberano and her partner, John-Paul danced a graceful classic Waltz.
The judges and audience were once again thrilled with the couple's
choreography yet stated that they need to watch their technique with
the classic routines.

Scores: Todd 7, Helen 7, Paul 8, Mark 8 = 30

Environmentalist and horticulturalist Jamie Durie and his dance
partner Amanda Garner dressed in matching black and white in the 1920s
theme took to the floor with an exciting and show-stopping Quickstep.
The judges remarked on the couple's energetic routine but warned Jamie
not to race through the routine as the Quickstep required quicks and
slows and the slow points of the dance were lacking in their performance.

Scores: Todd 7, Helen 6, Paul 6, Mark 6 = 25

Next a surprise was in store - Kate Ceberano and John-Paul, Fifi Box
and Paul Green and Tatiana Grigorieva and her dance partner Brendan
Humphreys took to the floor with a high energy Disco routine. The
judges commented on how hard the routine will be to mark and were
impressed with their funky outfits!

Scores:

Kate and John-Paul: Todd 8, Helen 8, Paul 7, Mark 7 = 30

Fifi and Paul: Todd 7, Helen 8, Paul 7, Mark 8 = 30

Tatiana and Brendan: Todd 5, Helen 7, Paul 7, Mark 7 = 26

The next couple to take to the dance floor was Home and Away star, Tim
Campbell and his partner Natalie Lowe. The couple took on the
exhilarating and fierce rumba routine and managed to thrill both the
audience and the judges once again. According to the judges, the
challenge for the couple is to push themselves to continue to be as
outstanding in the following weeks, especially with the three tens
from the judges.

Scores: Todd 10, Helen 9, Paul 10, Mark 10 = 39

The exuberant professional radio personality Fifi Box and her partner
Paul Green sexed up the dance floor with a sultry Foxtrot. Wowing the
audience with their effort, the judges were impressed with Fifi's
exuberance yet warned them to watch their choreography.

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 8, Paul 7, Mark 8 = 31

Olympic champion, Tatiana Grigorieva dressed in fiery red and her
handsome partner Brendan Humphreys took to the floor with a blistering
cha-cha routine. The judges and the audience alike were impressed by
the choreography and the routine.

Scores: Todd 7, Helen 7, Paul 7, Mark 7 = 28

And to end the show – Tim and Natalie, Jamie and Amanda and David and
Eliza take to the floor with their sizzling disco medley routine. Afro
wigs, green tight pants and open necked shirts were the order of the
day. The judges commented on how hard the routine will be to mark and
impressed everybody with their funky themed outfits! Dave had found
his calling as the disco dancing diva!

Scores:

Tim and Natalie: Todd 8, Helen 9, Paul 8, Mark 9 = 34

Jamie and Amanda: Todd 8, Helen 9, Paul 8, Mark 9 = 34

David and Eliza: Todd 4, Helen 4, Paul 6, Mark 8 = 22

And for the fifth elimination episode for this series, just who would
be the next star to hang up their dancing shoes? In nail-biting
moments, Daryl and Sonia revealed which couple would be dancing again
next week and in a shock announcement, Tatiana and Brendan's journey
had ended.

The ballroom blitz is half way and the competition is sizzling with
the seven remaining glitzy dancing stars - who will be having the last
dance tonight?

Daryl Somers introduces co-host, Sonia Kruger, dressed in a stunning
Toni Maticevski gown and the Dancing with the Stars tropical flavoured
panel of judges - Todd McKenney, Helen Richey, Paul Mercurio and Mark
Wilson. Each couple is introduced while anxiously waiting to perform
either the samba and rumba.

Up first tonight, dressed in a hot pink and silver outfit, Olympic
champion Tatiana Grigorieva and her handsome partner Brendan Humphreys
took to the floor with a blistering Samba routine. The judges and the
audience alike were impressed by the choreography and the routine but
warned the couple about their choice of music.

Scores: Todd 6, Helen 7, Paul 6, Mark 7 = 26

Next up was the talented Home and Away star, Tim Campbell and his
partner Natalie Lowe. The couple gave the series an edge with their
brave and emotional rumba routine. The studio audience and the judges
were in awe with their electrifying performance which brought them to
the top of the scorecard for tonight.

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 9, Paul 9, Mark 9 = 35

Dressed in yellow and black matching outfits, competitive Todd
Woodbridge and his partner Emily Reilly took to the floor with a
show-tune inspired Samba routine. The judging panel again were
impressed by the couple's performance even though there were some
glitches and the music really upped the vibe.

Scores: Todd 7, Helen 7, Paul 6, Mark 7 = 27

Farmer and reality star David Graham and his partner Eliza Campagna
bravely took on the Samba with a routine. The judges were impressed by
their brave effort but their improvement hasn't been as impressive as
the other couples.

Scores: Todd 1, Helen 3, Paul 2, Mark 4 = 10

Sizzling singer and musician Kate Ceberano and her partner, John-Paul
took to the floor for a sensual and intense Rumba. The judges and
audience were again dazzled by the sassy and well-choreographed
routine, but warned them to watch the technical aspect.

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 7, Paul 7, Mark 8 = 30

The exuberant professional radio personality Fifi Box and her partner
Paul Green took to the floor with a scorching Samba inspired by I
Dream of Jeannie. The judges were impressed with the couple's sense of
fun and mood during the routine.

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 8, Paul 8, Mark 8 = 32

Environmentalist and horticulturalist Jamie Durie and his eye-catching
partner Amanda Garner dressed in matching black and white took to the
floor technical and emotional Samba. The judges remarked on the
couple's great effort!

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 7, Paul 8, Mark 8 = 31

And for the fourth elimination episode for this series, just who will
be the next star to rest their Dancing shoes for a while? In
nail-biting moments, our hosts gradually revealed which couple would
be dancing again next week and sadly, Todd Woodbridge and Emily's
journey has finished.

Tonight the ten celebrities from Series 6 of Dancing with the Stars
face their first first eviction night. Who will be first to leave the
dance floor tonight?

Host Daryl Somers introduces the ten celebrities who will be dancing
for their favourite charities. Our favourite quartet of judges, Todd
McKenney, Helen Richey, Paul Mercurio and Mark Wilson return for week
two and continuing the excitement, international guest Bruno Tonioli
sits in the judging seat again this week.

Co-host, Sonia Kruger once again stunned the audience in a Carla
Zampatti royal blue velvet gown. Daryl and Sonia introduced this
season's latest Dancing with the Stars cast and moved onto the
biggest and best dancing series ever with the established and new
professional dancers undertaking the energetic and fast paced jive
and the tango.

Hitting the floor first tonight was Todd Woodbridge and his partner
Emily Reily decked out in thirties tennis outfits capped off with an
antique tennis racquet. The matching couple's energetic effort with
the jive was exhilarating for not only the couple but the audience
too. The judges were remarked on great effort, Paul quipped to Todd
he "danced like a Wimbledon champion and this week like a ball boy"
referring to a timing blip in the middle of the routine.

Scores: Todd 8 Helen 7 Paul 6 Mark 7 Bruno 7 = 35

Blonde bombshell Kimberley Davies, dressed in a sparkly black gown,
and her partner Paul Zaidman brought her acting ability and
experience into the emotional and passionate tango dancing routine.
The judges were impressed with the technique but pointed out there
was still the lack of passion which was also present in last week's
routine.

Scores: Todd 5 Helen 6 Paul 5 Mark 6 Bruno 7 = 29

Home and Away's own Tim Campbell and his partner Natalie Lowe stepped
onto the floor with a fast-paced and confident jive. The studio
audience and importantly the judges lapped up the couple's emotive
and high spirited performance.

Scores: Todd 9 Helen 8 Paul 8 Mark 9 Bruno 9 = 43

Next on the dance floor was rugby player, Wendell Sailor and stunning
partner Linda De Nicol,a both were dressed in matching red and black
with dancing the emotional tango. The judges' reaction was mixed
especially considering the tango is quite a difficult routine.

Scores: Todd 5 Helen 5 Paul 6 Mark 4 Bruno 5 = 25

Despite their rocky start last week Naomi Robson, dressed in a silver
and gold fringed dress, and her partner Steven Grace took to the
floor with a firing jive routine. The judges were impressed with the
couple's improvement not only the technique but the performance as
well.

Scores: Todd 5 Helen 6 Paul 6 Mark 6 Bruno 6 = 29

The vivacious radio broadcaster Fifi Box, dressed in a flowing black
gown, and her partner Paul took to the floor with their confident and
dramatic performance. The judges debated on the choice of music but
congratulated the couple's technique and performance. Paul was not
content to accept Paul Mercurio's comments on their choice of music,
Mission Impossible by Chemical Brothers, and his verbal power play
with the judge resulted in a score of five from Paul while the other
judges awarded them an eight.

Scores: Todd 8 Helen 8 Paul 5 Mark 8 Bruno 8 = 37

Dressed in a silver and black fringed mini-dress, Olympic champion,
Tatiana Grigorieva and her handsome and dance partner Brendan
Humphrey from Perth, brought an energetic and precise jive routine to
the dance floor. The judges and the crowd alike were very impressed
with the choreography and effort from the couple.

Scores: Todd 7 Helen 7 Paul 7 Mark 7 Bruno 7 = 35

Planting both feet on the ground, horticulturalist Jamie Durie and
his partner Amanda, both in matching black and gold took to the floor
with a exotic tango routine. Despite a small mishap during the
routine, the judges remarked on the energy throughout the routine and
mentioned they should watch the coordination.

Scores: Todd 7 Helen 5 Paul 4 Mark 5 Bruno 8 = 29

The bloke from the bush, David Graham and his partner Eliza Campagna,
dressed in a black and white frilled gown tackled a difficult tango
routine. The judges were impressed by the couple's effort, including
the choreography and acknowledged their improvement from last week.

Scores: Todd 5 Helen 5 Paul 5 Mark 6 Bruno 6 = 27

Singer and musician Kate Ceberano, dressed in a slinky pink gown with
her partner, John-Paul Collins took to the floor with a jam-packed
jive routine which ended with the splits. Choosing a song which
celebrated her musical background, their concerns about selecting the
Joker and the Thief by Wolfmother were unfounded. The audience and
the judges were overwhelmed with excitement over the gutsy routine
which reflected the first 10 of the series!

Scores: Todd 10 Helen 9 Paul 9 Mark 9 Bruno 9 = 46

And for the first elimination episode for this series comes the
moment of truth who will be the first celebrity to leave the series?
In nail-biting moments, our hosts gradually revealed which couple
would be dancing again next week and sadly, Wendell and Linda's
journey had finished despite their beautiful routine this evening.

Want to re-live tonight's fantastic moments? Find out more about your
favourite celebrity? To ensure your favourite couple remains in the
competition, check out how to vote.

Dancing With The Stars returns next Tuesday with our celebrities and
their exciting partners take on the salsa or foxtrot routines.

The magic and glamour of the ballroom is back for the sixth series of
Dancing of the Stars. The highly anticipated return of Dancing with
the Stars kicked off with a dynamic array of celebrities dancing for
their favourite charities. Our favourite quartet of judges, Todd
McKenney, Helen Richey, Paul Mercurio and Mark Wilson who were also
joined by internationally acclaimed guest judge Bruno Tonioli.

Known for his `passionate' and sometimes `too truthful' delivery when
judging the couples in the UK's Strictly Come Dancing and the American
version of Dancing with the Stars, Bruno Tonioli was sure to add to
the nerves of the celebrities and their dancing partners on the night.

Co-host, Sonia Kruger, was stunning in a Toni Maticevski white gown
with matching diamante shoes and jewellery. Five new professional
dancers partnered the celebrity dancers this season - Kimberley Davies
with newcomer Paul Zaidman, Fifi Box and Paul Green, Naomi Robson with
Steven Grace, Todd Woodbridge with fresh face Emily Reilly and Tatiana
Grigorieva with partner Brendan Humphreys while Linda De Nicola
returned with Wendell Sailor, Eliza Campagna with David Graham, series
five winner Natalie Lowe with Tim Campbell, John-Paul Collins with
Kate Ceberano and Jamie Durie was paired with series four winner
Amanda Garner.

Tonight the celebrities and their professional dancing partners
performed either the quickstep or the cha cha.

Opening the show was rugby player Wendell Sailor, dressed in silver
and black, showed off his rhythm with a cha cha, accompanied by
stunning partner Linda De Nicola who partnered Andrew Gaze it the last
series. Todd remarked on the 'hot' start the show and the other judges
remarked on his natural and funky ability. A fantastic start to the show!

Scores: Todd 6, Helen 6, Paul 6, Mark 6, Bruno 6

Olympic athlete Tatiana Grigorieva and her newcomer partner, Brendan
Humphreys hit the dancefloor with a brave effort in the first
Quickstep for the series. Bruno exclaimed she was a "true Russian Rocket!"

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 8, Paul 7, Mark 8, Bruno 8

Familiar with live audiences on television, farmer and reality
television contestant, David Graham dressed in all black and his
partner, Eliza Campagna took to the floor with an energetic cha cha.
Todd cheekily remarked he looked good until he started dancing and
there `was enough wood on the floor and David didn't need to add to
it', David needs to relax and rely on his gorgeous partner for
guidance and lose the stiffness. Bruno said he was definitely the
"charming farmer".

Scores: Todd 2, Helen 4, Paul 4, Mark 4, Bruno 4

Home and Away's very own Tim Campbell and his gorgeous partner Natalie
Lowe took on the difficult and fast paced Quickstep routine. All the
judges were impressed with the good posture, timing and most of all
good partnering. Last year's Dancing Champion, Kouta was a guest in
the audience and couldn't pass on any tips as he reckoned Tim excelled
in his first attempt and was the top scorer for the night.

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 8, Paul 8, Mark 8, Bruno 9

An incredibly nervous blonde bombshell Kimberley Davies dressed in a
scarlet sparkly pink gown and her partner, Paul Zaidman took to the
floor with the cha cha. The judges remarked on the great connection
between the couple, Kimberley is such a beautiful woman, they need to
show the emotion with Bruno ending the comments with "make us melt"!

Scores: Todd 5, Helen 5, Paul 6, Mark 6, Bruno 7

Swapping the court for the dancefloor, champion tennis player, Todd
Woodbridge and his partner Emily Reilly stepped onto the floor with
much aplomb in a fast moving and fun loving Quickstep. The judges
warned Todd to watch his posture and remarked on his relaxed efforts,
Bruno exclaimed "Mr Charisma"!

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 7, Paul 8, Mark 8, Bruno 8

Not a stranger to performing on stage, singer extraordinaire, Fifi
Box, dressed in sunny yellow dress and partner Paul Green excitedly
took to the floor with a confident cha cha. Todd mentioned the
couples' smiles and 'you two were on fire', while the other judges
suggested to polish the performance and technique and perhaps they
will be the champions.

Scores: Todd 7, Helen 6, Paul 6, Mark 6, Bruno 6

Seven's very own journalist/television presenter, Naomi Robson dressed
in a light pink gown with partner Steven Grace took to the floor with
a graceful Quickstep. The judges including international guest judge,
Bruno suggested trying to relax and watch the posture.

Scores: Todd 5, Helen 5, Paul 5, Mark 5, Bruno 6

Last but not least, Jamie Durie dressed in all black and his elegant
partner Amanda Garner, hit the dancefloor with a seductive and
confident cha cha. All the judges mentioned the connection between the
two, yet to watch the leading and footwork.

Scores: Todd 6, Helen 6, Paul 6, Mark 7, Bruno 7

Tonight, we reach the grand final of Dancing with the Stars series
five. AFL legend Anthony Koutoufides and chess whiz kid Arianne
Caoili battle it out for the championship. After a turbulent week of
training, the pair took to the floor with an exhausting three
routines each in a tantalising dance-off. Who will be crowned the
next Dancing Champion live on-stage tonight?

In a dancing spectacular all eight eliminated celebrities returned
to the floor with their dance partners for a mega mix routine – a
medley of each celebrity's favourite dance. We were reunited with
Fiona Falkiner, Tom Waterhouse, Kerry Armstrong, Gary Sweet, Amanda
Keller, Chris Hemsworth and Andrew Gaze.

First up was a musical extravaganza from Human Nature performing
their latest hit single, Dancing In The Street with a selection of
own professional dancers in accompaniment.

Host Daryl Somers introduced the esteemed panel of judges and the
musical feast of special guests including Natalie Bassingthwaite and
Shannon Noll and Rogue Traders. Co-host Sonia Kruger, wearing Toni
Maticevski for Myer, introduced the dances to be performed, along
with the fabulous contenders.

Opening up tonight's routines was footballer turned dancer, Kouta
and his partner Natalie, with a stylish and timeless Quickstep . The
judges were impressed by the couple's routine and journey throughout
the last ten weeks, remarking that Kouta come[s] out of yourself in
that routine and lighten up, it still was some of your best work, if
not your best work, congratulations! and you're truly a dancer.

Scores: Todd, 8, Helen 8, Paul 9, Mark 8 – total 33

Chess title holder, Arianne, dressed in a burnt orange dress, and
her partner Carmelo hit the floor with their passionate Paso Doble.
The judges remarked the couple were clearly the best dancers in the
competition, but this routine was not the best Paso Doble during the
series and there still should be more passion.

Scores: Todd 8, Helen 8, Paul 9, Mark 8 – total 33

Adding to the excitement of a Dancing With The Stars Grand Final,
local ARIA winners, Rogue Traders entertained the audience with a
live performance of their song In Love Again.

Kouta, dressed in military uniform, and Natalie, in `50s style
dress, fired up the floor next with an energetic and fun Lindy Hop.
The judges were almost speechless, saying the partnership has so
much trust and friendship, that you move so well together, and to do
that and dance like that in 16 weeks, well, you're phenomenal! The
result was the couple's first 10 from judge Paul Mercurio.

Scores: Todd 7, Helen 9, Paul 10, Mark 9 – total 35

Arianne and Carmelo's Lindy Hop routine was exuberant and athletic
(just as a Lindy Hop should be), though the judges remarked it had a
lot of Lindy but not a lot of Hop for me but acknowledged it's a
very hard dance to learn for the first time.

Scores: Todd 6, Helen 7, Paul 7, Mark 7 - total 27

Next up all eight eliminated celebrity dancers returned for a mega-
mix dance performance. First up was Kerry Armstrong and her partner,
Chris with an energetic Jive. Dancing the Cha-cha was Fiona Falkiner
and her partner Serghei. Jazzing up the stage was Gary Sweet and
Eliza with their Quickstep, while Amanda Keller and Csaba followed
with the sassy Samba. Home and Away's Chris Hemsworth and his
partner Abbey grooved up the floor with their Paso Doble, while Tom
Waterhouse and Alana Cha-Cha'd their way across the dancefloor.
Runner Tamsyn Lewis and Arsen completed the mega-mix by re-visiting
their Samba routine.

The finalists took to the floor for one last time, in the most
anticipated routine of the night, a freestyle dance (translated as
anything goes). Kouta and Nat were first up with their ambitious and
beautiful freestyle effort. The emotional routine had the audience
and in-house fan club on their feet. The judges remarked on the
amazing journey Kouta and Nat have achieved throughout the series,
and the trust they have built, which was evident, especially with
the lifts. The judges commented the couple were, here dancing
together as one – congratulations! The perfect score reflected the
judges thinking!

Scores: Todd 10, Helen 10, Paul 10, Mark 10 - 40

In the final performance of the evening, the gorgeous Arianne and
her partner, Carmelo took to the floor with their romantic and
stunning freestyle routine. The judges commented well done! on the
great choice of music and a well thought out routine.

Scores: Todd 9, Helen 9, Paul 9, Mark 9 - 36

In an exclusive to Dancing with the Stars, Natalie Bassingthwaite
and Shannon Noll performed their new duet Don't Give Up for the
first time live.

Finally the moment of truth we've all been waiting for - just who
will be the next celebrity to be crowned the champion of Dancing
With The Stars series Five? The nail-biting final minutes were
played out in front of a huge audience both in the studio and around
Australia, as Daryl and Sonia announced the series winners as Kouta
and Natalie.

Congratulations Kouta and Natalie!

Don't forget to check out the exclusive photos of the evening and
the celebrations in our galleries.
