The Food Intolerance Network Southern Fleurieu (finSF) is a small support group covering the Southen Fleurieu area of SA, including Yankalilla, Victor Harbor, Goolwa, Strathalbyn and Mt Compass. It provides information and mutual support for individuals and families who are affected by food chemical intolerance, where substances such as salicylates, amines, glutamates, preservatives and flavour enhancers, and sometimes wheat or dairy, can cause distressing symptoms. This would normally be diagnosed through a procedure known as an elimination diet, followed by food or capsule challenges, preferably under supervision by an dietitian experienced in this field.

Symptoms may include:* gut problems e.g.abdominal pain, reflux, bloating, irritable bowel, dairrhoea or ‘sneaky poos’, recurrent mouth ulcers * respiratory symptoms e.g. asthma, sinus problems, stuffy or runny nose, chronic cough, frequent ear infections * skin rashes e.g. hives, eczema amd other skin rashes * nervous system symptoms e.g.migraines and other headaches, mood swings, ADHD or hyperactivity, oppositional defiance, foggy brain, sleep problems,* restless legs, tinnitus, bedwetting * arthritis, fatigue
