Busy accummulating space in time and place and sufficient money to
start. Then I will feel that I can justify asking Mark to draw up the
plans for accommodation modifications to the latest Harry.
My wife wants a saloon and I am trying to turn the cockpit into a
Tardis by having the bunks at right angle a la Harrigami with the
feet under the outside seats. It means that it will have to have a
wide load sign when towed but it frees up about 600mm from each cabin
which can be added to the cockpit. The seats can then be moved to one
end of the cocpit and a fold-down table put in between them. The
seats nearer the center would be backless for easy access to the
storage under, and at the other end would be a shelf for navigation
and communication bits and pieces and a place to store my
microscopes. And still plenty of space for passage to below. Top it
off with a cover a la Bain's Harry. I am not sure whether to go
clears or a pair of sliding doors.
Other change include lengthening the lw hull. According to Mark this
can be done reasonably painlessly by making the gap between stations
a tad longer. I have been told there is a limit on total length of
vehicle+trailer so I figure the lw hull will have to poke over the
back of the towing vehicle. My idea is to tip the ww hull on its side
leaving plenty of space for the lw hull to sit high enough to clear
the back of a flat bed truck or even the top of our Subaru Forester.
Even though the size makes things a bit cumbersome, the actual
weights are well within manually powered winches and jacks and those
light weight beams make wonderful levers.
Also, I am interested in the schooner rig and wanting to see how it
goes on the Elementarry.
All in all, a significant amount of redrawing and I want to be sure I
can start immediately it is finished before I add any thing to Mark's
plate.
Just spent a weekend snorkelling on a field trip to Jervis Bay-
taking students out doing plankton trawls and underwater mapping of
seagrass beds and the surrounding life. Lots of rays, shellfish,
polychaete worms and including a 25cm long volute. I even managed a
surf in the morning. I pay for it later with the marking of their
field work. Would have been beautiful to have had a Harry parked
there to have enjoyed an evening sail with the light to moderate
offshore wind
