Re: [harryproa] carbon masts

G'day,

Infusion may work on the smaller masts, but I suspect it would be [problematic on laminates more than 3mm thick, unless the off axis material also worked as a conduit for the resin.

The first production masts have been built (for Elementarry) and look good.  We have a couple more of these to build, plus some larger ones, then we will be in a position to quote and build.  Hopefully just after Xmas.

Regards,

Rob

Subject: [harryproa] carbon masts

I was wondering if resin infusion might be useful for fabricating the
carbon strips. Is there any news of the new method for production
mast building? When will they be available?

Maybe it is possible to have battens equipped with jaws like booms and gaffs have on classic boats. Like Bolger's 'chinese gaff' rig, but with the addition of...

On a double sided sail with a wishbone like mine the out hall must be released to allow the wishbone to go up and down with the sail. The peak on a gaff must...

Just a thought but have you considered zipper reefing? They use it on skiffs if you can't afford a whole suite of sails. You simply unzip the lower panels off...
