I thought those on this list may be interested in what Rob is up to in Sydney. Check out http://www.smh.com.au/frontpage/2004/12/07/frontpage.pdf
Following is from the Multihull list:
G,day
Just a quickie. Dave and I are indeed in Sydney showing the guys how to fly
the monster (4,200 sqm/4,500 sq')Outleader kite. First sail was on Saturday,
first with, then without the mainsail in 10-15 knots of breeze. The prawning
was caused solely by the owner wanting to use a halyard on the mast as the
retrieval line. Consequently, as soon as the kite hit the water, the lead
from the masthead was wrong and we had to haul it in over the stern.
Normally, the retrieval line is attached to the forestay and the kite is
hauled up when it hits the water and relaunch is very simple. For a bunch of
first timers, it went pretty well. trying again this afternoon in 20-30
knots. Will let you know.
I have not had a chance to look at the coverage, but check out www.kiteship.com
for some photos etc.
Regards,
Rob
