can get a full size shed to work in to build a Harry. Meantime I was
considering building all those bits and pieces that seem to take
forever at the end. Things like rudders, seats, tables, possibly
crossbeams, cockpit roof and hatches. I was thinking of building the
rudder blades first and then the hatches. I really liked how Bain
made his rudders and would love details. Also are there any good
designs for home built hatches. I was considering a combination of
cedar, polycarbonate and maybe a wee bit of carbon or glass. It is
probably not very efficient making them but it may keep the weight
down a bit and keep me heading in the right direction. Also, I was
considering concertina doors for the cockpit made of honeycomb, glass
and polycarbonate nad was wondering if ther are light weight plastic
hinges available
Also, how long would the schooner rig masts need to be as if they
could fit in a container it keeps the transport costs down and I
would probably be asking you to make them and send them up? Would it
be better to use a scaled up version of Elementarry rig or have a
separate boom? I was even thinking of a high gaff rig to keep the
masts a bit shorter and make reefing easy, with a nicely curved top
spar to give an elliptical top to the sail.
Love to see some progress shots of Bain's Harry
Thanks
Robert
