Re: [harryproa] Re: Materials list and cost for "Harry"

No Robert, not looking for one but a friend of mine is busily designing a proa foiler. A proa skeptic two years ago, he has seen the light and is now convinced. I will probably build it, and hopefully pilot it at some stage. It will probably be around 18ft and look a bit like a proa surfboard on foils.

-Did I hear that Mark is looking at a foiler? Has he been bitten by
the speed bug?

G'day Richard,
the extended Harry seems a nice size. I have been researching
polyprop honeycomb and the prices from polycore-Australia seem pretty
good to me for a pretty good quality material. About $83 a
1200x2400x10mm buying single sheets and there is a discount for
buying 50. Loooking at 2kg a m2 for 400 biaxial over 10mm honeycomb
using vacuum bagging or resin infusion.Would think that the extended
Harry would come awful close to 50 sheets. I've been checking out
techniques on the nida core website and it seems reasonably easy to
use,
regards,
robert

Can see how the rudders with a little beefing up could accommodate foils but for the ww hull some sort of extra machinery is needed to have a foil effective...
