Don't think you can mix and match hulls and rigs. The Gibbons and the
EasyRig are different solutions to their respective hull forms.
HarryProa is unique in that the center of resistance (CR) doesn't seem
to shift forward when pressed due I believe to the egg shaped hull cross
section and no rocker (flat bottom line i.e. no bottom rise from the
center to the bow). This allows the balanced Easy Rig with CE in the
center of the leeward hull to match the CR which is not shifting about
when pressed.
Read all the discussion over on Proa_file in regard to rigs that must
shift and set very far forward to have the rig's center of effect (CE)
match the center of resistance (CR) of the "V" or modified V hulls. Many
V hulls have little shear with considerable rocker and the bow dives
while the stern is coming up therefore the CR moves forward.
If still in doubt, take a Hobie 16 out and compare it to a round
bottomed Hobie 18 to really see and feel the difference in these hull
forms. Another great experience would be to take one of Farrier's
F-boats out in some wind to see and feel the stern suck down and the bow
come out of the water as it drives with an almost neutral rudder. That
same flat width run to the stern may be the reason the dory style proas
seem to be catching on with so many using conventional rigs. Perhaps the
dory's CR does not shift forward due to the stern's flat (in width) run.
So many considerations and so little time!

I do like the idea of the leeward side of the main hull in plywood
while the rest is stripped, though.
The Gibbons rig seems to have its own appeal, at least as a starting
point and to compare with the EasyRig.
How far along are you? Any surprises yet?
