Sure the rig could be nonforgiving so could a soft sail rig if not
setup properly.
Maybe someone can explain what the general idea shared by posters on
this group of what feathering is to them. To me feathering of a sail
is the spilling of all its flow and power. Not just the oriented
position in which all sails must depower in.
The dyna rig does not have to have the range of motion that a typical
traditional soft sail needs to have especially on a proa.
Any one here or anywhere ever put a proa or any boat beam to wind and
waves with sail parallel to the wind with hull and sail stalled. Thats
gotta be one of the most uncomfortable position for boat and crew. I
think a safer or more comfortable position would be creeping to
windward or a very deep run.
Sheets!!! get you heads out of the 19 century and into the 23rd :)
who said sheets. I'm sitting in an easy chair with an aerodynamic
windscreen blocking the wind from both direction with two levers one
on each side for steering the proa ,one for sail control and the other
for rudder control. Its the mechanical advantages in rudders and sail
rig that allow the forces to be manipulated and allow for percise
control similar to the way the model is working in theroy not
practiced or known yet full size.
I'm not knocking the old way, hard to get to the new with out the old
I'm interested in the new way.
They said riding a rocket to be dangerous too, but some wanted to do
it anyways. Solving the problems to make it work.
