I would have thought it easier to sell the old one and start from
scratch. building extensions to fit exactly would take almost as much
time as building a mast and then the possibility of having to
reinforce it to make it free standing! I've had experience of trying
to match 'stick with glue' materials with aluminium and even when
work out how to get the glue to stick the differences in thermal
conductivity, mass and expansion can lead to all sorts of
difficulties.
I visited the boat when it visited Twofold Bay many years ago. It
would be interesting to see how it sails in the new configuration.
