Description

HI,

Do you love to knit/crochet/loom/sew/quilt/toy making, want to help the needy?

We invite other craftpersons to join us and craft at your own pace at home, work; knit and natters or wherever, to make items to be donated to charities who assist the homeless; abused; women/children's refuges; needy families; prem babies; cancer patients, animal shelters etc. The charities must give the items we donate DIRECTLY to those in need, not sell them! All donations stay in Queensland/Northern NSW and any area in Australia where a tragic event happens, such as the 2009 Victorian bushfires and now the Queensland and Victoria floods.

Charities have told us how much this would be appreciated as people don't tend to donate warm clothing for Queensland's needy as they think it doesn't get cold enough here, but it does especially for those living on the streets in the cold and wet. They also like to be able to give some NEW items to the needy as it boosts their self confidence.

So get those needles working...anything - booties, bonnets, beanies, scarves, jumpers, cardigans (for babies, children and adults) and even knitted toys would be greatly appreciated. There is no pressure to make any particular number of items, just whatever you can do will be great!

And if you think that one donation wouldn't help please consider this

That one item that you make will make a world of difference to somebody in need!

Since inception in January 2006 until December 2010, we have had over 65,000 items donated which has helped homeless, prem babies, youth in crisis, aboriginal settlements; animal refuges, aged homes, families in need, cancer sufferers, crisis centres for women/children, etc. (Over 25,000 of these were made in 2010 alone

Up to date we have over 330 online members and approx 100 members who don't have access to computers! Thanks to all who have donated their time, skills, and love for helping the needy. Please join us in our quest to help the less fortunate than ourselves
