Thanks for the tip just picked up a NOS Clutch cable and Clutch
Lever return spring (very hard to find). All for $25 incl postage
bargin compared to ebay. Clearly those that spend stupid amounts of
money on ebay are a) not members of clubs and b) have found Oztion
yet.

Hello All,

I just watched the programme, interesting to see the different P76s
and the Force7.

It was stated on the programme that the Force7 at Birdwood had never
been outside of the building until being photographed for this
programme, since when it was first put undercover many years ago. is
this correct, as I seem to recall seeing a photo which was taken a few
years back.

Also, I seem to recall that a P76 S.A. member said once, that some
members did take the Force7 for a drive around the grounds during a
visit to the complex.

Geoff

Hello Mick,

Thanks for the reply.

No I have not found a P76 as yet. The price of fuel for my daily
driver does not help the money situation!

…Taken from Damo’s updated list of parts suppliers for the P76…

Polyweld Automotive manufacture P76 door trims. They will manufacture any colour you want. They don’t have a website, but they advertise in Just Cars magazine. I called the ACT Rare Spares outlet (listed as a distributor) who quoted me $535 for 4 doors.

I am not sure if this includes the ‘upper’ door trim cap (that metal thing).

Email: polyweld@...

I remember finding a site on the internet a couple of years ago, don’t know if it’s the same one you remember Mick, http://www.americanautos.com.au they had the P76 door card listed back then… an 'early' and 'late' version at $495.00 a set of four (that was Feb 2006). I just had another look and no mention of anything Leyland. Might pay to email or call them.

I have enquired with some local trimmers they cannot reproduce the original because it involves the use of a press to get the exact reproduction, and the demand isn’t there to justify the expense of setting it up. One place had done it for fj holdens. I know you can get perfect repro mustang door cards from the states.

There was a place in NSW who claimed to be reproducing door cards for the P not sure where that was/is.

Hello All,

Had a birthday party last night. My niece (who is a chef) made a large
cake for the occasion and to my surprise, sitting in the centre of the
cake was a laminated picture of a P76.

I was impressed with my niece's work!

However, it did generate quite a bit of discussion from my visitors
about the "lemon car" (their words, not mine)! *LOL*

I was busy all night singing the praises of the P76.....boy, was I busy.

One party guest was speaking about servicing the 6 cylinder P76s many
years back, when he was a grease monkey. The head mechanic would
always get him to seal the rocker covers back on to the heads, he said
it was always a painful job to do as there was no lip to retain the
gasket.

The party was a shared birthday...on my son's cake my niece placed a
laminated picture of a current European Ford Focus RS. It was an
opportunity for me to compare the quality features of the P76 with the
features of the Focus, which 35 years younger. I think I won the
argument.....although others at the party may not agree with me! *L*

Regards,
Geoff

P.S. The cake was yummy as well!

I am collecting photos of dealer stickers on P76's, and would
appreciate it muchly if people could take photos of any they see and
forward them to me.

Adrian has already created a section on the website for the stickers I
already have, so please have a look and help us collect a whole lot
more.

I am up to 16, which is a long way short of the 300 odd Leyland dealers
that existed in 1973.

It has become quite a big deal in some marques to have the correct
period dealer sticker on the car, and I hope this will help some people
with getting the right one on their P76.

It is with great saddness that I need to let you know that Ray Hoey
died recently. Ray was a great friend of the P76 Owners who rallied
them. Ray was in the round Australia Rally with Hal Maloney in 1995
in a HD Holden and won his class. Ray and wife Joan also attended
several of the re-unions of the round Australia Groups. His funeral
was held yesterday and was well attended by members of the rally and
car community as well as the Scout Movement where he served as a
leader when living in Croydon prior to moving to Moe. Rays collection
included Jowetts, Zephers, Holdens, Peogots, a P76 and a very rare
Lagonda.

Ray will be missed by all that knew him and my thought go out to Joan
and his kids.

Hello Andrew,

I joined ebay as a seller in February of this year, listed one item (a
Holden/Monaro part) to get the hang of it and the item sold.

In April I listed 60 items at ebay and sold a large percentage of
them. I have a 100% feedback score.

Everything was going okay and I have more parts to list, but as you
know ebay now insists that sellers use paypal, with the extra fees and
holding the buyer's payment for a period of time. Also, as you
probably know now the seller can not leave negative feedback. (Not
that I have had reason to do this.)

As a result of the changes at ebay, I decided to look else where to
list items for auction.

Yesterday I put my first listings up at Oztion. Once again,
Holden/Monaro parts.

Items at Oztion appear to be mostly "Buy It Now (BIN)" items. Although
as I have done, I have listed both a BIN and an auction starting price.

Have a look at this post, my username is onlineauction2008:

http://www.oztion.com.au/Community/topic.aspx?t=auction&tid=241514

It is free to list items for sale at Oztion. When the item sells, a
fee is then charged to the seller. When one joins as a seller, they
pay a $10.00 amount of which the seller's fees are deducted from. I do
not know what happens if the $10.00 is used up, I assume one must add
more credit to their account.

The membership is gradually increasing at Oztion. Within the last week
Oztion was sold to a large marketing company. The word is that nothing
will change.

I have searched the net and also read several posts at the Oztion site
and from what I have read, I have not read any "bad press" about
Oztion. Also, from the posts I have read one is able to speak to a
"real" person on the end of the phone at the Oztion office in
Australia if the need arises.

I have read that the ACCC have ruled that ebay holds off from
insisting that all sellers must use paypal, until they make a ruling
in the near future. It will be interesting to see what happens. My
theory is, if ebay are unable to insist on paypal, then they will
increase the fees to sell!

Let me know if you decide to go with Oztion...I will look out for your
listed items.

Regards,
Geoff

I've been with them for a while it has only 288,000 members so it is a lot smaller than fleabay (love the name), but I guess if we use it it will grow.

Hello Geoff,

Speaking to a number of guys who worked at Leyland dealers at the
time, it was meant to help generate some showroom traffic for the
dealers.

You have to remember that 1975 would have been a tough time for a
Leyland dealer. There was all the negative publicity surrounding the
closure of local manufacturing, plus your two best selling models
have just been pulled off the market ( the P76 and the Marina ).

I know that most dealers here in Perth put the Force 7 right out the
front of the yard with big signs announcing the Force 7's presence.

And it seemed to work, because many people who I have to spoken to
over the years remember popping into their local Leyland dealer to
look at the Force, and they were not even P76 owners.

James
