Hi Muli,

We might be able to comment better if you could share the following details as well:
  1. Your past experience
  2. Your target industry

I strongly believe that it would be simple for students with strong pre-MBA work-ex and a good brand name (ex. JP Morgan, etc.). Also the companies are now scouting for talent with strong technical and ethical background, therefore degrees like CFA can make your life simple. MBA at MBS might make you a leader but you would need technical knowledge to prove yourself in the long-run. Also, degrees like CFA makes it simple to get an Australian PR.

All the best in your endeavor.

Cheers,
Chirag Gupta

P.S.: I am not an expert. My opinions are based upon my interaction with my office colleagues in Australia.

Hi all,

I have been accepted to mbs for class 2010 but still wondering whether the time is right considering the difficult economy situation.

i heard that for mbs or agsm graduates, it should be relatively easier to find a job in australia, however, with the global recession going on, can anybody share what the job situation likes for international students?

tks in advance.

Hi Raj,

Thanks a lot for this information.

My profile:
GMAT Score: 700
TOEFL Score: 108
Work Experience: 2.2 yrs right now... 3.2yrs by the time of joining MBA
Current Company: McKinsey&Company (Research Division)
Leadership Roles: Manage workflow of 13 analysts... and guide these analysts.
Designation: Junior Research Analyst (expected to be Research Analyst by next month)
Qualification: Bachelor of Business Studies, University of Delhi.

My Questions:
Does MBS has students with low work ex like me.
What are the possibilities of staying in Australia after completing my MBA?
I think loans are not easily available for students of MBS. How does MBS students manage finances?
Are we allowed to work part-time while doing MBA. How much we can earn from such jobs? Is that sufficient for a student?

Any kind of help would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Hello Everyone,

Here is what I think:

1. MBS had arranged a dummy lecture on info day, the lecturer was very interactive. Needless to say they have good faculty over there.

2. Here in Australia personal info is regarded with highest possible care, no information regarding students will be given to anyone. Even I am not sure how to contact the current students over there. They don't even have a discussion forum or blog site either. More realistic information can only be obtained by students who are currently studying over there.

3. Though there is no placement services provided in any unis here in Australia (I am not sure about MBS), a lot of companies come to MBS for hiring. MBS has a very good reputation over here in Australia.

I want to specialize in Entrepreneurship, When I asked if there is an incubation centre, they said there is none. Somehow I felt that if I study at MBS then I have to pursue General Management instead of Entrepreneurship. So I am having second thoughts if I have to apply to MBS. But since I am over here I can do it part-time as well. I am still thinking about it.

I am planning for 2010 intake.

My Profile:
Age: 27
Experience: 6+ years (Embedded Software Development - Automotive/Industri al/Medical Domain) - Currently working as a Group Manager for a team of 7 people.
GMAT: Yet to take
Career Goals: High Tech/Entrepreneursh ip/Venture Capitalist

A pleasant surprise to see a message on this group after months of
inactivity ;)

1. How do you rate the performance of the MBS staff at the info session?
2. Did they mention any way of contacting current or Alumni students at
MBS? I had sent a mail from MBS but got a response in the negative
mentioning that they dont allow us to reach out to students.
3. Did they give any insights into the placement office activities?
Supposedly MBS has been improving the placement department in the
recent years?

Are you applying for sept 2009 intake?
Could you share your profile?

My profile:
Experience: 5 years in an IT company by sept 2009
GMAT: 760
Career Goals: Marketing, High Technology

Hi All,
I have got a GMAT score of 640(Q 47/81%, V 32/65%). I've got 3.5 years
of work ex. How good are my chances of getting an admit in MBS/AGSM
for the Jan 2009 intake?

Which one is better - TOEFL or IELTS?
Does the admissions committee consider a good toefl/ielts score if the
gmat verbal score is less?

please reply...

thanks!!
