The 4th Sunday in October falls on 22 October - the day of the Pink Ribbon Ride so this is an opportunity for us to support this great charity.
The link below is to the Pink Ribbon web site and has all the information we need. I would strongly recommend you register before the day.
Depending on the weather, up to 800 riders may be participating so I suggest we gather at the northern side of the big silver tank in the car park at 9:30am. Ride off is at 10:00am. If you want to wait until the day to register, you will need to be there earlier than 9:30am.
Just for interest,3.6L per 100kms is about 81mpg and 2.8 is off my bar
graph at a smidge over 100mpg.
My BMW F650CS(Scarver) only got 80mpg between Adelaide and Tailem Bend
on the weekend-but it was towing a trailer!

In all fairness, they are on par or the 50cc gets a little better economy
if you don't go near highways and just putt around in 60km zones or less.
It would also take a while to recoupe the inital outlay in fuel savings
and the on-going TAC insurance which is 3x more for scoots > 125cc.
But horses for courses, if you get a sniff of 60km/h+ zones then go for a
bigger scoot, I now have.

Yes,if it's faily new-make it the dealers problem. The more that is
written down about the history of the unit the better.I'm not that
familiar with the model unfortunately-if it's a carb,the symptoms
could be a fuel vacumn tap fault. If it's injected,it could be a fouled
injector.Actually it could be many things, some really simple really
annoying faults that can be the simplest to fix if you can just pin
point them.
Good luck

I can see I will need to leave it with the mechanic/ workshop overnight so they can experience the problem for themselves and then hopefully diagnose and fix the problem.

Intermittent faults are the hardest to diagnose. If you know how to remove the spark plug, try that and see what sort of colour it is. If it is black and gooey it is a good chance the plug is fowled. Note the number of the plug (written on the side of it) and buy a new one. Also check to see if the spark plug lead is loose or cracked, spay a bit of CRC inside the plug cap.
Try to kick start it, very, very, very easy to do. Turn on ignition, don't touch the brake levers as you may have to do with the electric boot. Put your foot firmly on the kick start lever, feel for a bit of compression and give a good hard kick downwards. The secret is to be decisive kick starting if you try it too gently or slowly it
might kick back. This wont hurt you on a low compression 177cc Scoot, but would ripe your leg off if it were a 1960's BSA 500 single ;-) Try this a few times, it it doesn't fire by 6 goes then take it to a mechanic.

The new Yahoo!7 TV home page features highlights and popular picks http://au.tv.yahoo.com/tv/
there is a problem starting my Le Grande in the morning when it has been sitting overnight. It is not temperature related as it has happened on some of the warm mornings we have just had here in Melbourne as well as on cold mornings. The problem is intermittent but occurs more times than it doesn't.
It seems the engine is not firing, I can hear the electronic start doing its best, but the engine just is not firing. No amount of throttle appears to make any difference. It eventually fires and for the first few moments, it is somewhat tentative and then eventually seems to catch properly and then doesn't miss a beat. After it has sat at work in the warm garage (advantage of a space in the company car park) for the day, it starts first turn of the key.
Does anyone have any suggestions as it is very annoying - and no, I haven't tried to kick start it as I don't know how to!

I'm going to try and be there-I'll be in Adelaide on Saturday getting
a single wheel trailer fitted to my Scarver,so if it all goes smooth
I'll be back in time.
I talked to some Honda people at the GP who would not guarrantee that
a Silverwing will be at Kilsyth next weekend. They have two
availiable, but things have a habit of happenning,so they would not be
committed.Stocks of the thing arn't due yet,but will be on Honda
Australia's inventory soonish..

Great idea! If anyone wants to go there
in a group then I am happy to meet up at the University Café in Lygon St or
just meet at Kilsyth at a set time for a chat and coffee.

I am planning a 5 day jaunt on the Le Grande and would appreciate advice from the broader knowledge of all you other scooterists regarding carrying luggage and perhaps some additional fuel. I will be staying at either back packers or cabins so need to carry a sleeping bag, etc.
The Le Grande only has an 8.5
litre fuel tank so I am going to need to visit a fuel pump every 160km which could be a pain. Yes, I know there are lots of fuel stops in Victoria, even remote Victoria, but does anyone have any safe ideas for carrying even an additional couple of litres which may just make the difference?
Luggage - I have a small top box and of course under the seat but by the time I have a sleeping bag and some other bits and pieces (including my hair dryer!) that may not be enough. I realise I could simply buy a bigger top box but any other suggestions would be appreciated. We gals do like clean clothes but I am prepared to sacrifice the make up.
I am not looking for a "rolls royce" solution but something that is practical and reasonably priced.
You never know, your suggestions may be of assistance for those going on the Mountain Goat ride.

I would be interested depending where you
want to go. I would not be able to do it until around 11am though.
I will check the group in the morning to
see if there is a ride on or not.

[melbourne_twist_go_scooters] Anyone go for the MSC ride tomorrow (6/8)?
Hi everyone,
I will be free for a ride tomorrow and the weather looking fine too!
But the Melbourne Scooter Connection will go to Noojee up the mountain
with freezing cold and foggie hardly see the road. So I am not so
interested to join them for a long ride.
Anyone interested to go for a ride but not a long one 125km out of Melbourne as
they do?

Hi Lesley,
Thanks for organising the ride. It was a good day even through only 3 of us went. Pity about the downpour in the last 30 minutes or so!
Would you please post the contact details for where you got your
extended windscreen for your LeGrande. Also, the email address for Julio and his scooter group.
Thanks
Bruce

Hi Lesley,
I will be there. The advance forecast is currently “fine” so let’s hope it stays that way. Do they serve breakfast at the Orange Bean or is it more coffee and cake?
Looking forward to a long ride!

Yes, the 4th Sunday has rolled around again. Time to blow the dust off the scooter and scare the populace.
We will meet at Viv's family's new venture - The Orange Bean Cafe at 104 Elgin Street, Carlton at 10:00am for a 10:30am ride off to check out the regrowth of the vegetation in the You Yangs following the bushfires last summer.
If the weather is not nice, we may just settle for coffee!
Hope to
see you there. An idea of numbers would be appreciated.

I have been checking the fuel usage on my Le Grande 200 and would appreciate some feedback from others with Le Grande scooters.
My fuel usage is around 23 - 24 km per litre and the low fuel signal seems to be coming on at about the 140km mark with about 2 litres of fuel left in the tank. I have not been courageous enough to wait for the alarm to sound. Being stranded on the side of the road out of fuel would be a tad on the embarrassing side.
Is this fairly normal for a Le Grande?
It would mean on a long trip I would need to refuel at ever 150km and this could be a pain.

Under your feet:-)
Lift up the rubber mat, undo the screws on the plate, & there it is.
If you ride infrequently, might be worth investing in a trickle
charger to keep the charge topped up. A1 Cycles in brighton can
probably help you with both a charger and the owners manual. Cheers,
