As this will be the last ride for the year, I am giving everyone lots of notice so hopefully you will find space for it in your diary.

We will ride off from University Cafe, 257 Lygon Street Carlton at 10:00am as usual - if you want coffee or breakfast before we ride off, you will need to get there earlier.

For this ride we will head to Gembrook - the route should be easy enough for the lower powered scoots but still interesting.  We will have lunch in the park - either bring a picnic or purchase food from the nearby shops.  There is also a market next to the Puffing Billy station for some pre-Christmas browsing.

Hi guys.

I am selling my Yamaha Majesty 400 and before I list it on BikeSales
or Trading Post I thought I would offer it to members of the group.

It is a 2007 model that I got last October. Its in as new condition
and would suit a new scooter purchaser that wants to save a couple of
grand.

The rego has just been paid a couple of days ago and it still has
just on 12 months warranty remaining. The reason I am selling it is
because it sits in the garage most of the time and as such it only
has 3900 km on the odometer.

It is silver in colour, twin disc front and single disc rear brakes,
DataDot theft protection, engine immobilizer, large under seat
storage big enough for two full face helmets and two glove boxes.Good
for 26 km to the litre and perfect for an everyday commuter and
weekend tourer.

I will supply a RWC and I am asking $8000 for it.

Contact my husband Ken on 0407 535366 or email me.

If I don't sell it through the group I will be advertising it within
the next two weeks so be quick if you want a great buy.

Thanks,

Christina.

Hi Robin,

I am ccing to both scooter groups as you are not the only person confused by the Pink Ribbon Ride.  I believe there is no official Pink Ribbon Ride this year from reading the following link

If any one has some sort of official confirmation the ride will be taking place could they please reply to me at lel_macd@...

As it does not appear to be taking place, I hope we will have a great turn out for the VACC Safe Routes Ride although the weather may be a bit dicey.

The Twist and Go Group ride scheduled for Sunday 26 October is going to join the VACC Safe Routes Ride so there will be some changes to our usual meeting tmie and place.  Whilst you may not support all of the aims of the VACC plan, at least it will be an opportunity for traffic planners to recognise scoots are a force to be considered in future traffic planning.

All scooters are welcome to join us, even if you don't usually ride with us - the more the merrier!

So we can all be together as a group, we will ride off from Portofino Cafe on the beach side at the corner of Kerferd Road and Beaconsfield Parade, Albert Park at 09:45am so we can be at the starting point of Luna Park at 10:00am.

If you want breakfast / coffee before we leave, you will need to arrive earlier.

The Safe Routes Ride finishes at Docklands where there will be the opportunity to join in the Docklands Community Safety Day or head off on a longer ride on one of our favourite rides along Beach Road where the top speed is 70kph so is suitable for smaller scoots.

Do both, VACC then continue on afterward.  I think some of us did that a few years ago.

Hi John

No problems.
The Frankston meeting / regroup place is intended for that, to save
scooting 50km to Melb just to turn around and ride back again.

Cheers Graham

Thanks Lesley,
A good trial for the DR,, I got home with warm hands, dry feet, and a wet chain. So Oxford hot grips, Scottoiler, and Derry overboots, all worked very well. Have a good trip to the Alice.

The other Les.

I hope the steadfast group who came on the ride today made it home safely.

Weatherwise it was rather interesting - rain, sun, wind - all different and all within a 10 minute period!

David, hope it doesn't take too long to clean your Harley!!  Yes, a Harley Davidson on a scooter ride!

The ride on the last Sunday in September will be lead by Kerry and Graham - watch out for their post closer to the day.  I will be on my way back from Alice Springs where hopefully it will have been warm and sunny.

When I checked with Mark McGuire earlier this week he still only had 7
people registered for this course. So please tell any fellow riders
you know about this course in the hope that we can get the 15 minimum
required for the ride to go ahead on Sunday 14 September.

Thanks

The Twist and Go scooter group monthly ride (last Sunday of the month) will ride off from University Cafe, 257 Lygon Street, Carlton at 10:00am.  If you want breakfast or coffee, please arrive earlier.

There is a fun run in the CBD area and a number of city roads will be closed so those coming from the east and south may need to allow additional travel time for the detours / closed roads.

We will be heading out along suburban roads to Whittlesea where we will re-group at the United servo (opp the primary school) in Whittlesea and ride off from there at 11:15am.  This may suit people in the north who do not want to go in to the city.  There is loo at the servo.

Where we head from Whittlsea will depend on the weather - one option is not suitable if the weather is bleak (twisty and slippery) and the other more open, so all will be revealed on the day based on messages from the weather gods.  For those that do not want to go any further and are on smaller scoots, you may just want to come to Whittlesea and then head back home - lots of options to suit everyone.

Look forward to seeing you all on the day.

My daughter and I have booked in for the Toolangi ride on Sunday 14th September.
Based on
the email below from Mark McGuire they only have 7 people so far and need 15
before the ride
will proceed.

For those who haven't been on one of these rides it is just a fantastic day and
good
value at $66, especially as you get your individual riding style critiqued by a
HART
Instructor. This will be my 5th Yarra Ranges ride and I still think they are
great value.

WHAT !!!

A motor bike !! How common....

That must have been a moment of madness.
And we were just about to present you with a life time membership.

I'm sure you can dress it up to look like a scooter, all you need is cardboard and glue.
Maybe we could get you to pull a trailer and carry drinks for us.

You'll have to bring it along and show us some time.
Just remember if you come to breakfast you might have to park it around the corner.

By the way PLEASE don't tell us it's a Harley.

Les, I will forgive you ..... the Maj has served you long and well.  BUT  ...do we start a book on how long you stay with a motorbike after the superior functionality of a scooter?   Storage, better protection from the elements, easier to ride, more comfortable .......

You are welcome any time you like to join us.

Lesley

What's a Harley ???

( Suzuki DR650 ,,, back to the future )

Cheers
George

G'day guys.

I have created another album with some pics from our ride to Frankston
last month.

It is titled 'June ride on Eastlink to Frankston'.

If you have any other pics from the day there is plenty of room in the
album for you to add them.

Enjoy,

Ken.

Hi guy's.

I have created an album with some pics from yesterdays ride to
Eynesbury.
Unfortunately they are from a bit far away so the quality is not real
good but it's better than nothing.
The album is in Photos and is titled 'Ride to Eynesbury 27/7/08'.

Regards, Ken..

Ken somehow kept track of the temps yesterday's ride ...

The reason we felt very cold was because it was.

At 8.30 am it was only 6.7 Degrees Celsius.

When we took of at ten it was only 7.2 DC.

When we stopped at Bulla it was only 8 DC.

By the time we got to Eynesbury it was 8.3 DC.

When we headed off for home it was still only 8.3 DC.

And when you guys were probably getting home it was still just under 9 DC.

It never got above single figures out this side of town all day.

Are we the “6 brave soles†or 6 crazy soles?

I think everyone deserves a big well done for making the effort.

And I also made a huge spelling mistake - yes, the soles on the feet of the souls on the ride were cold.  My brain must still have been frozen.

Lesley
