THE MOCKINGBIRD by Peter Lead
The story of a one-way ticket and a second-hand novel

Inspired by the rediscovery of a second-hand copy of Harper Lee's classic novel, The Mockingbird is honest, funny… and a little bit sexy!

Pete, our hero, has a life brimming with close friends, romances, and opportunities provided by fate. But a big decision needs to be made.
Stay in Sydney to be with a friend and, maybe, soul-mate; or fly to Perth to be with a stranger and, maybe, lover?

The Mockingbird combines elements of storytelling, comedy, music and physicality. Peter Lead borrows from his experience in comedy, rock'n'roll and physical theatre to recreate a personal journey. Behind
the laughter, the drama and the dancing, this is really a story about some cool and crazy things that happened one upon a time when
he was "23, single and open to whatever the world had to offer!"

Learn the perils of owning a loft bed, why you shouldn't read to kids and how to make a killer caprioska…

BLANK the Musical

Tuesday nights in January
8pm @ The Roxbury Hotel
182 St Johns Rd Glebe

Lend them your BLANK and they'll sing you a song. In fact, they’ll sing you the whole damn musical!

EVERY TUESDAY IN JANUARY @ 8PM, BLANK the Musical will be box-stepping into Glebe's Roxbury Hotel to give you all the razzle-dazzle of Broadway - sans script and score.

It's RENT unwritten, Hairspray unheard, Spamalot unscored. Every show is different and inspired by your suggestion.

Previous BLANKs include "Bacon the Musical", " Antarctica the Musical", and everyone's favourite "Tinkerbell the Musical". They're singin' on the edge... where anything goes!

This talented cast of improvising comedians combines the spontaneity of Theatresports®, the danger of Thank God You're Here and the wit of Whose Line is it Anyway? with the all-singing, all-dancing pizzazz of a Broadway musical comedy.

BLANK the Musical sold out in Sydney and Brisbane in 2007. Now you have the chance to relive the magic, or experience it for the first time, before it hits 2008 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

So, this January, make it your resolution to get BLANKed every week!

ALL TIX $10 - available at the door.

The Mockingbird is the story of a second-hand novel, a one-way plane ticket, and some limes.

Tom, Dick and Harry move into a big house on Cleaver Street – a definitive bachelor pad that they christen Cleavage.  Cleavage houses parties, girls, sexual liaisons (or dreams thereof), and an abundance of liquor and music.  People crash on the floor, sneak into the residents’ beds in the early hours, and the lights never go out.  The whirlwind of freedom and debauchery breezes between the walls, while the bathroom turns furry and the floor grows sticky.

Between the roof and the loft bed, Dick realises that his willingness to accommodate girls has turned his life inside out.  After all, a girl is why he’s here…

The Mockingbird combines storytelling, comedy, music and physical theatre to tell a tale inspired by the rediscovery of a second-hand copy of Harper Lee’s classic novel, To Kill a Mockingbird.  The show explores a life steered by close friends, romances, and opportunities provided by chance, where a one-way plane ticket sets the deadline for a life-changing decision.

Pete Lead has toured around Australia with comedy and improv shows at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Cracker Comedy Festival and BrizImprovFest.  He performed in the Sydney premiere of Urinetown: The Musical and, more recently, in Terry Pratchett’s Men at Arms at the Seymour Centre.  He was Artistic Director of Sydney’s first improvised comedy festival, the Twisted Melon Impro Festival.  At the Old Fitzroy Theatre, Pete has appeared in Twisted Melon’s Like There’s No Tomorrow (2006) and BLANK the Musical (2007).  He returns there with the premiere of his one-man show.

The Mockingbird is honest, funny, and a little bit sexy.

We trust that you're well - and if not, the next two Tuesday nights will cure what ails ya.  See you soon!

With much melonly love,
Keira & Pete
