Hi Everyone,
Just a reminder that the "Broadmeadow" Exhibition is on this weekend,
the 23-24 August at Newcastle Jockey Club, Chatham Road, Broadmeadow.
Open: 9am-5pm (Sat) & 9am-4pm (Sun), there is a courtesy bus from
Broadmeadow Railway Station. Admission: $10/$8/$25. I'd say that the
best way of getting there is to catch the train to Broadmeadow train
station and catch the courtesy bus to the (NJC).
Members who drive from Sydney just need to drive up the F3 and take
the Newcastle Link Rd exit. It's just after the George Booth Dr or
(Cardiff Exit), go straight through the roundabouts (4) which becomes
Thomas St Wallsend past the Shell Petrol Stations and turn right at
the big roundabout at the top of the hill (Newcastle Rd). Now follow
the Newcastle signs to Broadmeadow, pass United Goninan on the left,
you'll recognize it because of the trains in their yard cross over the
railway bridge make sure you are in the right hand lane for a right
turn after the bridge.
Turn right at Samdon St and follow it past Gregson Park, the next set
of traffic lights that you get to is Belford St, you need to turn
right here. Once you have turned the corner, you will need to get in
the left or middle lane as the next set of traffic lights you come to
is Chatham St to turn left. Just as you leave the intersection with
Belford St GO STRAIGHT not veer right as this is Brunker Rd and will
take you away from the racecourse. Follow Chatham St for about 500
metres and Newcastle Jockey Club and racecourse is on the left. I
chose the Newcastle Link Rd way cos it was the easiest to explain here.

Hi Everyone,
Well the buzz at Australia Rail Page is the new Pacific National 92
class. Well I have got a shot of it and the pic/s are posted in the
photos page under the heading of New Train Photos. It's pretty much a
National Rail NR class and a QR National 5000 class. I am sorry about
the picture quality as I didn't really get a good one and the trees at
the back of the United plant make it hard to get good shots.

Hi Everyone,
Well today, I decided to get in and check all the links because over
time, they get a little stale. I'm glad that I did because there were
a few that didn't link to anything but after Google searching some, I
found new web addresses for them. I also added some new ones so if
you'd like to look at them, please feel free to do so.
The sister yahoo group to this that was listed on the front page has
now gone, I took what ever usable items and links off it and posted
the links here. I'm trying to get some sort of routine happening here
with posting so others will see that I'm making an effort and may
contribute as well.
**Latest News**
Well from the world of simulators I have bought and downloaded the
latest version of Train Dispatcher 3 from Signal Computer Consultants,
I've had previous exposure to this game in the form of Train
Dispatcher 1 & 2. Well not a lot has changed from 1 & 2 that I could
see, so to do something about the downloads paid and free, I decided
to buy Track Builder 3 to add my contribution to the Australian
downloads. I have access to Sydney suburban track diagrams and a
working timetable, hopefully you will see Sydney suburban dispatching
sims.
While I have had the time on my hands, I've also done Australian train
icons for use in the game, I'll upload them into the Database area of
this group soon

Hi everyone,
I took a trip to "Rotten Road" on Kooragang Island last week to get
some detailed pictures of 4521. What a surprise I got when I got
there, pictures can be seen in New Newcastle Pictures. 4521 has lost
part of it's long hood and ALCo 251 engine, while a surprising visitor
was 8601. I think that both locomotives belong to the group up at
Dorrigo? I hope to get out more to get pictures to put on here
Mike
Hi Everyone,
I thought that it would be a good time to post a message to show that
I'm awake and alive and doing ok and actually doing something than
letting the group fall into dis-repair and have some of you think that
no-one is running the group. Well I haven't done much in the order of
chasing trains etc, because I haven't had my computer to do much, it's
still living 300kms away from my new home.
When I get my computer up here, I'll be heading out when I can to
capturing trains on the Short North (Hornsby to Broadmeadow) in New
South Wales and putting them on here (this group) and NSWrail
http://www.nswrail.net/ and of actual locomotives on Railroad Pictures
http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/default.aspx
See you all soon, be safe and please enjoy my pics and feel free to
add your own.

Well what a roller coaster ride I've been on, I've moved from Albion
Park Rail in the Illawarra to Gosford on the Central Coast. I've done
bugger all in the way of trains and modelling and photography. I have
to get my computer from Wollongong soon so I can transfer stuff
between my computers. I was going to go south and photograph the
Camberra, Monaro Line at different stations and locations for future
reference. I am sorry that I haven't been on here, but working along
way from home didn't help either. Bare with me and I'll get out and
update some of the pictures on here.

Hi Everyone,
I have been really slack in the posting of stuff on here. I got a heap
of pics when I went to Sydney for American Chopper, I'll post them
after I get back from Melbourne next week + pics that I have taken
while in Melbourne. those of you who would like to look at my pics
from the Chopper weekend can look at the in putfile

Hi Everyone,
I took a trip to Thirlmere yesterday and took some new pics. Alot has
changed in the 11 months since I was there last, alot of the exhibits
now have working marker lights and headlights and also interior
lights. The pics of the Bradfield car and 2510 steam loco you can see
which lights are working. The prototype Tulloch double deck motor car
has all it's seats done in the top deck, it just needs the seats done
in the bottom deck & ends. The hard part of this car is going to be
the cab, with alot od the buttons etc that need to be replaced. I'll
keep you informed about this car.
Hi All,
I thought that I'd do some work on the community and add somemore
links. I have added Auscision, I was impressed with their NHFF r-t-r
coal hoppers. Also added were Eureka Models, NHFF 100t Coal Hoppers
which is a page from NSW Rollingstock, NSW Rollingstock, Tom's Hobbies
& Trainorama to give the group alittle bit more of an Australian feel.
As I go looking for more Australian websites, I'll add them, I have
Tranz and Auran to do plus the boys at Team Alco which I will do next
week. As far as I know, ALL links work, if they don't, just email me
or send me a message in yahoo and I'll chase it up.

Hi All,
I got out on Tuesday during work hours to take some pics around Kiama
and Bombo. Well Tuesday morning offer a suprise treat with 4918 fresh
out of the paint shop with 4486 & 4473 in tow in the RIC's Bombo
Quarry Sidings ready to leave. I saw them in there when I was in my
bus heading from Kiama to Kiama Downs to take Kiama High kids to
school. Luckily my second run also starts in Kiama Downs so I zipped
off down to get a closer look at the locos and take a few snaps.
Later in the morning I had the perfect opportunity to get pics of
"Bedrock Betty" the once National Rail stone train out of Dunmore
Quarry, but sadly, I left the camera in the car back at the depot. Bad
part, the train had 2, yes 2 Pacific National painted 81 class on the
front, I wasn't happy either, there was only a car between the bus
that I was in and the locomotives.
When I was getting back from my sportie/charter, at Dunmore I noticed
a ARG painted CLP in the platform, I thought that I need to get back
to the depot and get my camera. I got back to Bombo and the CLP led
train was in the loop. Thats how I got the pics of CLP13 at Bombo.
Mike
Hi All,
Well I attended the Australian Model Railway Association exhibition at
Hurstville last weekend and purchased MSTS Microsoft Train Simulator
from the Team Alco stand. I got it home on Saturday night loaded it
onto the computer it went ok. Sunday, I spent half the day working on
the Team Alco stand and most of Monday as well, I bought the Modern
Freight Pack and was given the NSWGR 38 class and AD60 Garratt packs.
At this present time, I would say that the sim is harder to work with
than Trainz, but uses less memory than Trainz with the graphics alot
better than the ones on Trainz. I have found the loading of activities
hard and still working on getting the activities working. I'll keep
you informed of my progress.
Hi Everyone,
As I stated in my previous post, I will be attending the NMRA
Hurstville exhibition this weekend. I'll be helping the exhibit and
American n scale layout called Kentucky Division DeButts & Oakdale.
Hi Mike,
Welcome to the group. I haven't got pics of the loco as yet but I'm
carrying my digital cam with me everywhere so I can hopefully score
pics of it. I've been kind of slack in looking while there is
trackwork on. I have the NMRA exhibition at Hurstville this weekend,
I'll be there with a N Scale layout called Kentucky Division, DeButts
& Oakdale which is a double sided layout.
Mike
Hi Mike,
Did you get the pics you wanted?

Hi All,
Well I'm going away this weekend to a model railway exhibition in
Taree NSW. I'm going to see what pics I can get while up that way and
post here.

Hi All,
While travelling home from Lithgow today, I noticed a couple of
changes to the Cityrail network. The first, not exactly Cityrail
territory is the Clarence Colliery balloon loop, the loop was
de-energised earlier this year, but sometime in the last couple of
months, the overhead contact wire has been removed completely. Same
with the overhead wiring at Heritage Mine's Siding at Hartley
Vale/Bell, but this siding still has wires up over the Arrival and
departure roads for about 300 metres.
The next is the old Ropes Creek Line at St Marys, now Storage Sidings
1 and 2. Catenary has been removed from them also the overhead is
removed from signal 476 47.800km to 810 points 47.560km.

Hi Everyone,
I'm going to be away this weekend, hopefully I'll get some pics to put
on here. Sorry Julianne, I have failed to locate that SSR B class, its
probably in Victoria somewhere, but on my way up to Thornleigh today,
I'm going to slip past Sandown to see what locos are shunting the
Shell refinery and Seatons? Have a great weekend everyone and I'll
catch you all later.
Hi All,
Observed today was Pacific National 8122 doing some Blue Scope Steel
internal coal workings. I saw her just passing under the F6 Freeway
bridge at Unanderra heading towards the steel works from Wongawilli
Mine. I know that the loco is under lease to Blue Scope Steel, but I
don't know how many 81's are there?
Hi Everyone,
I am after pics of the Southern Shorthaul Railroad's B class, pics
need to be clear as with your permission, they are going to be used on
a website with full credit going to the photographer.
Mike
Hi All,
Well I did do rail replacement buses again today, like last week, not
much to report, just the Speno rail grinder at Strathfield. When I saw
it early this morning, it was traversing the Down Suburban out of
platform 6 and over the fly over to the line to Hornsby. I didn't even
see much activity on the North Shore line either.
Hi All,
I have to admit, while doing rail buses last night, there wasn't much
around to report about. Overhead wire vehicles/trucks were busy last
night between Strathfield and Burwood on the Up Suburban, while about
6 to 8 track machines were stabled at Summer Hill on the Down Suburban
just west of the station. I didn't see any loco hauled trains at all
while doing rail, but I did see the Indian go through Parramatta just
after 10am with a single and unusually Indian Pacific liveried NR on
the front. It's funny how Pacific National and National Rail before it
had loco's painted for the different business branches but the
particular loco's never ran or hardly ran on the designated trains,
ie; Trailerail loco's on Trailerail trains etc.
Hi All,
Just a quick post, yesterday passing through Granville I observed SSR
4483 with CFCLA 4471 they were on a container train, probably heading
to either Yennora or Minto, but I think with the turn around which was
short, they went to visit Yennora.
Hi All,
I noticed while at Granville this morning, the RIC AK Inspection cars
heading west behind 3801 Ltd's 4908, the only reason why I took notice
was because of the 44 class on the rear. While at Granville bus
interchange I saw the nose of the 44 class and decided to try &
investigate a bit more as I was doing a 902 from Bankstown to
Parramatta.
Well when I left Granville Interchange I was trying to see what was on
the front and to my suprise, it was 3801 Ltd's 4908, I got to see the
train about 10 mins later and saw 4473 on the rear as it was crossing
Parkes St in Parramatta. I was also cool to see that the panto was up
on one of the AK cars.
Hi All,
Yesterday seen on 2 western freight passing through Parramatta were
81's 13 & 26 I think on the point of a Kandos bound cement train.
These loco's are painted in the new Pacific National blue and orange.
Also seen were 8114 and another in the shafts of a east bound coal
train these are both still in the National Rail orange & grey.
Hi everyone,
Yeah I know, it's been awhile since we have seen any activity with
this group, but I am going to try and change that. I have a whole heap
of new pictures to post and also some new and exciting links, no not
sex site links :( but new train links. I had to change the name of the
community, because I thought that just having it for one scale was
rediculous and just calling it Mikes Trains might be a bit better. So
come on, help me make this a "better than average yahoo group" and
feel free to post your own pics and links and also messages.
Mike
