Hi All,

I saw something of interest today in the form of EL62 stabled on a siding in the
down yard at Morisset. A very unusual location to see a stabled locomotive
especially in the form of EL62.

Thanks for the welcome mike.
And yes the good pics always happen when you dont have the camera handy or as you say carn't stop the bus har har.
Just today i went on a big trip out of Melbourne to a place named Werribee and just as i got off the sparky at the end of the line a large deisel witch i havn't a clue what number or what class as the thing took off through the station past the other side of the spark dohh.
Anyway as an up side i had to go through Spencer Street witch carries all sorts of trains from valocities deisels and sparks and got some good pics so they will be up soon enough.
I tryed to upload some on to your site yesturday without much luck.
I will try again soon when my nerves are a little better har har.

G'day Mark,

Welcome to Mikey's trains, I try and post when I can, but in very
recent times when I want to get pictures, I'm usually driving a bus
when the interesting pictures happen. Last week I saw quad EL's
heading under Dora St bridge as I was going over in a bus, nowhere yo
stop and get pictures. Mark, I don't mind you adding pictures to the
group, just feel free to make your own folder to post them in.

Hi everyone,
Sorry that things have been slow with the group, I've been busy trying
to get my life "gainfully" employed again and not had my camera out
for a few weeks. Well from the news that I've seen on Railpage and in
Motive Power, Independent Rail Australia (IRA) has taken delivery of
their latest Nohab's from DSB. I missed the delivery run of these down
the "Short North" to Braemar for fit out and painting. But I guess
that they will be out sometime towards the end of 2009?

While doing Cityrail bustitution between Granville & St Marys a couple
of weekends ago, I noticed on the back of a PacNat freight a 3 car
Trans Perth set heading to it's new WA home. I was going to try and
take this weekend as a weekend of getting train pictures between Woy
Woy and Newcastle and post them here when done.

Hi Jim,

I'm Mike the groups owner. Because the locomotives are so long and
noisy, crews had troubles hearing the detonators going off to warn
them of workers on the track ahead. Here in New South Wales, to warn
workers and train crews that there was people on the track, a flagman
would set 2 detonators on the track to warn both. 3 "dets" on the
track means danger and halts any train from proceeding further into
danger. If you look at pictures of the 60 class, the sound tubes lead
down to the leading wheel on the right side on both ends. I hope that
this helps?

Hi Everyone,

Before everyone tells me I'm wrong, I should have put Canyon Colliery
instead of Hartley Vale, I do have to admit that Canyon Colliery is
now long gone and the railway infrastructure is slowly disappearing
not only to the vandals but to mother nature as well.

Hi Everyone,

I've just finished posting 99 new pictures to the group from last
weekend the 13 & 14/12/2008 while I was at Lithgow and Bathurst, I
must admit that I did no gunzelling at all while in Bathurst but I did
take time out at the Zig Zag Railway on the Saturday and Marangaroo
(just west of Lithgow), Newnes Junction and Hartley Vale on the
Sunday. Hartley Vale and Newnes Junction sandwich Bell railway station
with both serving coal mines and loaders with Hartley Vale now
disused. The pictures of Hartley Vale will show the rail
infrastructure that is left including the point motors, 3 points, one
catch point and what is left of the overhead wiring.

With the Zig Zag Railway now knocking on the Clarence Colliery's door
and wanting access past the colliery's access road, this has been a
problem for the ZZR for their run to Newnes Junction. A project
committee has been set up with ZZR's own general manager being
appointed to oversee the works that will include work to proceed in 3
stages with stage one being set out for the clearing of the 2 cuttings
on both sides of the access road and the construction of a level
crossing to Australian Standards.

Hi Everyone,

I've added new pictures from when I was doing rail buses last weekend
between Woy Woy and Wyong, I only got pictures at Woy Woy as there was
nothing at Gosford or Wyong worth taking pictures of. Almost all the
Pacific National loco were 81 class with 2 at Gosford, and 5 on 3
different trains 2 spoil and 1 ballast at Ourimbah and 2 at Wyong with
another ballast train.

Hi Peter/Everyone,

I don't know what the problem is, it could be that your anti-virus
don't like Yahoo email? I don't send attachments through the groups
email so I don't think thats the problem? It could be that your
anti-virus isn't set up to accept anything from yahoo or it sees the
groups emails as spam? I'm sending this email blind as I'm not sure if
there are any attachments plus your only telling us that your
anti-virus is going off and not saying why so we can find a solution.
Its very hard to find a solution without giving the cause, your
anti-virus will tell you what it has blocked or deleted before to open
the email.

Hi Everyone,

While there is trackwork happening between Gosford & Morisset for the
next 2 weeks starting today, I'm going to try and be out when I can to
document the happening of work trains and general freights during the
shutdown. Only the morning and afternoon peak electric trains will run
in the direction of the peak, ie; morning peak trains to Sydney and
the afternoon ones to Newcastle.

Hi Everyone,

Just a reminder that the "Broadmeadow" Exhibition is on this weekend,
the 23-24 August at Newcastle Jockey Club, Chatham Road, Broadmeadow.
Open: 9am-5pm (Sat) & 9am-4pm (Sun), there is a courtesy bus from
Broadmeadow Railway Station. Admission: $10/$8/$25. I'd say that the
best way of getting there is to catch the train to Broadmeadow train
station and catch the courtesy bus to the (NJC).

Members who drive from Sydney just need to drive up the F3 and take
the Newcastle Link Rd exit. It's just after the George Booth Dr or
(Cardiff Exit), go straight through the roundabouts (4) which becomes
Thomas St Wallsend past the Shell Petrol Stations and turn right at
the big roundabout at the top of the hill (Newcastle Rd). Now follow
the Newcastle signs to Broadmeadow, pass United Goninan on the left,
you'll recognize it because of the trains in their yard cross over the
railway bridge make sure you are in the right hand lane for a right
turn after the bridge.

Turn right at Samdon St and follow it past Gregson Park, the next set
of traffic lights that you get to is Belford St, you need to turn
right here. Once you have turned the corner, you will need to get in
the left or middle lane as the next set of traffic lights you come to
is Chatham St to turn left. Just as you leave the intersection with
Belford St GO STRAIGHT not veer right as this is Brunker Rd and will
take you away from the racecourse. Follow Chatham St for about 500
metres and Newcastle Jockey Club and racecourse is on the left. I
chose the Newcastle Link Rd way cos it was the easiest to explain here.

Hi Everyone,

Well the buzz at Australia Rail Page is the new Pacific National 92
class. Well I have got a shot of it and the pic/s are posted in the
photos page under the heading of New Train Photos. It's pretty much a
National Rail NR class and a QR National 5000 class. I am sorry about
the picture quality as I didn't really get a good one and the trees at
the back of the United plant make it hard to get good shots.

Hi Everyone,

Well today, I decided to get in and check all the links because over
time, they get a little stale. I'm glad that I did because there were
a few that didn't link to anything but after Google searching some, I
found new web addresses for them. I also added some new ones so if
you'd like to look at them, please feel free to do so.

The sister yahoo group to this that was listed on the front page has
now gone, I took what ever usable items and links off it and posted
the links here. I'm trying to get some sort of routine happening here
with posting so others will see that I'm making an effort and may
contribute as well.

**Latest News**

Well from the world of simulators I have bought and downloaded the
latest version of Train Dispatcher 3 from Signal Computer Consultants,
I've had previous exposure to this game in the form of Train
Dispatcher 1 & 2. Well not a lot has changed from 1 & 2 that I could
see, so to do something about the downloads paid and free, I decided
to buy Track Builder 3 to add my contribution to the Australian
downloads. I have access to Sydney suburban track diagrams and a
working timetable, hopefully you will see Sydney suburban dispatching
sims.

While I have had the time on my hands, I've also done Australian train
icons for use in the game, I'll upload them into the Database area of
this group soon

Hi everyone,

I took a trip to "Rotten Road" on Kooragang Island last week to get
some detailed pictures of 4521. What a surprise I got when I got
there, pictures can be seen in New Newcastle Pictures. 4521 has lost
part of it's long hood and ALCo 251 engine, while a surprising visitor
was 8601. I think that both locomotives belong to the group up at
Dorrigo? I hope to get out more to get pictures to put on here

Hi Everyone,

I thought that it would be a good time to post a message to show that
I'm awake and alive and doing ok and actually doing something than
letting the group fall into dis-repair and have some of you think that
no-one is running the group. Well I haven't done much in the order of
chasing trains etc, because I haven't had my computer to do much, it's
still living 300kms away from my new home.

When I get my computer up here, I'll be heading out when I can to
capturing trains on the Short North (Hornsby to Broadmeadow) in New
South Wales and putting them on here (this group) and NSWrail
http://www.nswrail.net/ and of actual locomotives on Railroad Pictures

See you all soon, be safe and please enjoy my pics and feel free to

Well what a roller coaster ride I've been on, I've moved from Albion

bugger all in the way of trains and modelling and photography. I have
to get my computer from Wollongong soon so I can transfer stuff

reference. I am sorry that I haven't been on here, but working along
way from home didn't help either. Bare with me and I'll get out and
update some of the pictures on here.
