Can you let me know if you are interested.
At this point it will be on the last weekend of November, and Im

Kerry & I would like to thank Tony & everyone for a really enjoyable
time on Saturday afternoon/evening. It's a shame conditions were'nt a
bit better. There was a lot of QSB throughout the night. We are
looking forward to next years event, same place, same time.

We hope to catch up to some of you for a chat when the southern
states are coming in. All the best to everyone, good luck with your

Hi all from the 122 & the 144. We're leaving the home QTH at
6:00am to head up to the Log Dump, an hours drive. After about an hour
setting up camp & the antennas, we'll be on air about 8:00am, working
skip & testing the UHF. We did'nt make it up for testing last weekend,
due to some heavy snow falls up at the Tops.

Looking forward to the MRC. All the best to everyone on the
Challange.

Local RFS and Parks service are both saying "very high fire danger"
here. So no ban, and the access road should be open. Looks like the A
site is go. :-)

Fingers crossed no change in status in the morning.

Hi MRCers, and in particular stations MRC11, MRC12, MRC13.

My fallback site, Mount Spring, is not as good as Mt Ginini. But if
there's a fireban I don't have much choice - the access roads to
anything better are locked.

..which means I may not get out as well. So, an alternative is to
listen out for me on the Tumbarrumba or Bethungra repeaters (channels 3
and 2 respectively) if you have no luck raising me on the HF or UHF
channels.

I imagine 11, 12 and 13 will all be able to reach eachother. Please
pass on the above advice as I guess we don't all have email or at least
check it as often.

Good luck everyone, and have a safe one!

Mat.

There have been a few recent station locations additions and

I have added several files to the files section of this group, and
also on the website including;
Frequency list showing, 27MHz, UHF & Amateur frequencies
Repeater location lists for several states.
Mt Report Form - Please complete with as much detail about your
location and setup
Message Relay Form - Please use this to record time, mode and the
acutal message, and who you received and sent it to, for both the
originating message and the reply

Please note Qld is not on Daylight Savings, Im sure those stations
are aware times listed are Easter Summer Time references.

The weather is looking good for the weekend in Victoria, but a little
hotter to the north. We've had snow & total fire bans in the same

Talk again soon.

Hello All,

Well we are getting closer, and to help out I have uploaded some lists
of UHF repeaters for Tas, Vic, ACT, NSW & Qld. These are from the
www.Tropinet.com website. Can i suggest you print and take copies of
these files. This website relies on people advising of the status of
these repeaters so it would be good if you can help them by confirming
or updating information on your return.

I have added my current Mt Report Form, in a MS Word & pdf versions.
If you want other versions let me know, and if you advise of other
details i can add them to the form.

Thanks and will be sending more updates soon

Hi all. From Wed 15/11/05 at approx 2:00pm till about 12:00pm
17/11/05, SF122 & I will be setting up portable at the Barrington
Tops. We are doing a DX'pdition and testing the UHF setup for the MRC
on the 25/11/05.

When conditions are coming up from the south, I'll be calling
on 27.265.0 usb every now & then to see if we can make any contacts
with other MRC members. We will be testing the UHF for repeater
access & how far we can reach on simplex. With an altitude of 4700ft,
it's going to be interesting to see just how far we can reach simplex
& how many repeaters we can access & their location.

Looking forward to saying g'day to a few folks out there.

Apologies if I'm telling everyone what they already know, but don't
forget to use a bit of barricade tape on the bottom portion of guy wires
or above cable runs to help with visibility and accidental tripping.
It's cheap stuff so worth the small extra effort.

A 350mm x 350mm flat panel of chicken fence wire 87mm behind a mobile
phone integrated antenna makes for very cheap 6dB gain compared with a
car or base antenna.

Hi MRCers,

On Ginini last month I was able to work one or more repeaters on each of
ch 1-6 and 8. I've tried matching them up against repeaters within
200km of my location, at:

    http://www.tropinet.com/cgi-bin/repeaters.cgi?nr-3082-51092

with a view to perhaps using some as a fallback in case I can't make
direct contact with a neighbouring MRC station.

To the south it looks like the Tumbarrumba repeater on Channel 3 might
be handy for chat with Hotham (MRC13) and Pinnibar (MRC14).

I'm not sure if the Ch 2 repeater I was working on Ginini was Thredbo or
perhaps Bethungra (near Ulandra). I suspect the latter, so maybe that's
useful for Canobolas (MRC16) to the North.

Are MRC 13, 14 and 16 on this mailing list?

If we can't hear eachother on the hour then go to 3 or 2 every now and
then and hopefully we'll bump into eachother there.

D'oh! Just missed you.

I nipped up to 36 (on SF144 Pete's advice) to catch TAS. TAS was clear
as a bell for 15 mins or so but finished with deep fades that eventually
got worse and then faded out altogether.

After that I listened to SA on 35 for 5 or 10 mins - the exact skip
conditions you're talking about - but then we both signed off at about
9:30pm your time. The skip into SA didn't last very long for me.

When I finally got back onto 26USB it was dead. Maybe you came down to
26 when I was still on 35. Or maybe I've got you in my recording of 35
and don't know it. Didn't hear any callsigns unfortunately. Just
somebody in SA talking to Sydney stations and saying how the skip had
just sprung up suddenly. I've got it all down in the recordings. He
spoke to a guy called Ray too. Snippets from some of the chat:

"What sort of gear are you running up your way Ray?..."

"There's quite a few of these guys starting to come into South Aust. now..."

"Yeah roger. I've got you there 5s and 5s. Yeah mat, she's only just
started to come in in the last 5 minutes..."

etc.

Hello Mat,

I remember times when during daylight hours I couldnt communicate with someone, but after daylight i could have a good chat, although they were moving the needle up to a 1.

Didn't attend the radio between 6 and midnight tonight. But the Vox
