This is an invitation to all our South African Families, Other Migrants and Locals, their Friends and Anyone who wants to attend our “SPRING TIME” BBQ and Picnic Event

Hi Everyone, this is a social “FUN” event, please bring games, a ball, a bat and we can all have a bit of fun !!! Kids welcome !!!

Please bring your own picnic baskets, food, drinks, chairs, umbrellas and a portable barbecue if you have one, as gas facilities are limited.

We hope you can join us for a fun family day, which provides a great opportunity to meet and make new friends.

Bicentennial Park

Bicentennial Park was created during the 1980s, in time to celebrate Australia's Bicentenary in 1988. The 100 hectare natural heritage site provides an important wetland ecosystem with 40 hectares of beautiful parklands.

Bicentennial Park is part of Sydney Olympic Park and offers visitors recreation, nature-based tours, environmental education and outdoor event experiences.

The Park offers free entry, BBQs, picnic areas, playgrounds, pathways and cycleways, parking, access to the wetlands, salt marsh and bird hides. Additional features include Lake Belvedere, Peace Monument, Treillage Tower, Sundial, 'Cyrus the Great' statue, the Silent Hearts Memorial Garden and water features.

Things to do at Bicentennial Park

Have a picnic, there is plenty of space around Lake Belvedere

Use our BBQ facilities, they are free and electric

Play in the two children's playgrounds

Liberty Swing for people with disabilities

Follow the boardwalk and explore the mangroves

Walk, run or cycle, there is over 8 kilometres of shared pathways and cycleways

Walk your dog. Please note, dogs are to be on a leash at all times and are not allowed in the wetlands

Go bird watching in the specially built bird hide

Hire a bike

Relax and enjoy the environment

Treillage
A feature of Bicentennial Park is the Treillage - a square, 3 storey viewing tower constructed from trellis. Treillage is a French word for lattice. It was commonly used in gardens in the 16th century. Climb to the top of the Treillage for fantastic views of Bicentennial Park, Sydney Olympic Park and the Sydney city skyline.

Liberty Swing - open from 3 July 2006
Sydney Olympic Park in cooperation with Variety - The Children's Charity of New South Wales has installed a 'Liberty Swing' in the Village Green at Bicentennial Park. It allows people using wheelchairs and people with other disabilities to enjoy the fun and recreation of swinging. The Liberty Swing can only be accessed by a key. This key can be obtained from the Bike Hire shop (next to Lillies Cafe).

Please do not feed the birds

Feeding the birds may seem like fun but it can harm them. Wrong foods make birds sick and can kill them. Adult birds pass diseases to their babies and make them sick too.

So enjoy watching the birds in the Park but please don't feed them!!!

Toilets:

There are accessible toilets located in the Kiosk and near the mangroves.

Vehicles:

Accessible parking areas are located around the Kiosk, Lakeside and Village Green.

Bus:

The Olympic Explorer Bus (405) operates 7 days, is wheelchair accessible and travels from Strathfield throughout Bicentennial Park and the Olympic Precinct.

Train:

The nearest fully accessible railway stations are Lidcombe (easy access), Strathfield (easy access), and Olympic Park (easy access). Concord West Railway Station is the closest station, but its not wheelchair accessible.
