Yes me too and I'm not too much of a scumbag. I hope the signin

have also directed quite a few people to the idea so being able to

I’ve done the preliminary tuning of Robyn’s 1979 Cadillac Gucci Seville
which has the Oldsmobile 350 dual bank 8-injector system. She successfully
drove it to our National Rally, but it is only giving high 13s for 0-100k,
so I’ve got a bit to go yet. According to one of the guys in The States, we
should be able to get it down to 11 for 0-100. I hope to do some tweaking
this weekend. I’ll post the results.

Regards,

Terry

Its suprising how "restrictive" the old EFI ECUs are, one of
our "experts" (he'll get a swelled head over that one), Gareth, was
saying to me just the other day, the first time he fired his Falcon
up (previously EFI EEC4), even with near base "350 chev" VE
settings, it felt like it went better. I fired my L20B frankenstein
engine using base 350 settings (updated contants of course).

Ahhh. Thanks for that, Eddie. I've also joined the appropriate forums
using my usual net name 'gryps' but may not be really active for a couple of
weeks. We have the national Cadillac Rally on the Gold Coast coming up, and

I'm using a lot of the defaults in the preconfigured system, which is no
doubt how I got it running so well so fast. Mate had a drive today and was

No, I hadn't seen that site, Eddie. Looks good, though. The Olds is
probably very similar to the Chevy 350 as far as requirements. Once I found
the fuel flow of the injectors and calculated that in, the car started
running really well. Wife is really impressed that we no longer have to
rely on using ancient electronics to keep her Gucci Cadillac running (check
out http://www.americanspares.com/gucci/)

What is the GP32 chip? One of the guys in the USA Cadillac LaSalle club

had to tune the thing from scratch, which I've done. The 1979 Seville has
got 38 pounds per hour injectors, which seem to be unique to Cadillac, so I
might just have to wing it. Wife has been back at the traffic light drags
since I got the Megasquirt running, and has been winning, so I guess I can’t
be too far off the mark. I reckon its running a little rich, though. I'll
see what I can do about that tomorrow.

I would have thought that the 350 cube caddy would be very similar
to the base 350 chev settings that come on the MS GP32 chip.

Hi fellers,

Once I found the flow rate for the Seville injectors (38 pounds per hour)
and adjusted the parameters accordingly, The Gucci started right up & drives
like a new one. I believe it’s the best its ever run. A bit more tweaking
and Robyn will no doubt lose her license.

Hi fellers, we now have the motor starting, idling and running, now
experimenting with the settings. Idle is fine, but I have it running too
rich, with stoich about 12 at idle (on a 350 ci motor, that's expensive ;-)
and it is driveable, but I have a ways to go yet. Wife has been driving
with me messing with the settings.

Once I'm happy with it, maybe in a few weeks' time, I'll publish my findings
& settings, in case someone else out there wants one of these to run in a
Caddy Seville. The original analogue computers are almost impossible to
get, even second hand these days, and of course the 25-30 year old
components are stuffing up on the working ones. I've got six or seven of
the original computers, only one working, so Megasquirt is a great
alternative.

Hi fellers,

I’ve got the Megasquirt together, and it starts the engine, but the motor
dies after three or four seconds. I’m warming up the motor using the
analogue computer & will give it another go after that.

The car is a 1979 Seville with an Olds 350 ci motor, originally analogue
computer for the fuel injection system driving two banks of four injectors
each, firing 1-4-6-7, 2-3-5-8.

Any clues as to what I should adjust? Hehehehe

Regards, Terry

Thanks, Luke.

It has the flyback board, and the identical one has been working
fine on a 500 ci with a previous similar injection system, so I
don't really think its injectors. I'll see how it goes.

Howdy Terry,
Most problems with the fet driver and fets can be linked
to injector impedance. The problem with not building your own, is not
going through the megamanual from start to fin.Download the manual
and read it.There are charts of what type of injectors and how many
you can run without using the flyback board. With the flyback board
however you can run just about any set up.Also read the chapter on
tunning as the wrong initial settings on a borderline injector load
can toast that gear.
Cheers Luke.

keep an eye out here..

we will probably do between 2 and 4 group buys a year, depending on
interest levels. if we get 10-15 MS orders then it is worth doing one
basically..
we will definitely be doing more as the PWC and UMS and possibly MS2 come
out...
what are you after?

Hi,

New member Terry Griffin of Brisbane with a prebuilt MS installed in
wife's 1979 Cadillac Seville which is to replace the analogue FI
computer.

I've got the Motorola FET driver in my MS, but it smoked shortly
after installation & testing. I reckon on changing the driver &
both FETs. Any clue as to where I can get these in Oz? Any clues
apart from replacing the mica FET insulation as to why it may have
smoked? The first thing the MS did was to fill a bank of cylinders
with fuel. The MS case was opened up, engine dried out & the car
started right up. Ran for a few seconds, and smoked the driver. It
is back on analogue until I can sort it out. I was in Sydney during
the installation.

Yeah, you have to join the 'Usergroup' first, by clicking the link
near the top of the page and selecting "AUS-MS". Once you are
approved, you will be able to post, reply, etc.

To receive e-mails of the forum messages, you need to select
the "Forum subscriptions" link, and add "Australian MegaSquirters"
to your list.

You can also add the forum to your digests, if you like.

Then you should be all set!

Lance.

in "Usergroups" of "forum subscriptions". i think the latter is for email,
and the former is to become part of the group for approved participant
groups

try going to usergroups, then join a group (see if it gives you the option
of aus-ms)

LOL, you have to subscribe to the forum, as it is restricted access, ie only
Lance and I (and i think Eddie is moderator also) can approve
membership. this is to keep it an aussie thing so it doesn't get full of
crap spilling over from other forums.

i think it will be good to have some threads like "what sensors do you
use" and other aussie specific things would be good.. "what TB's and TPS's
are appropriate for MS" etc.

so please subscribe to the forum, and your subsription will be approved,
and then you can post :)

I saw that Brett, personally I couldnt care either way, the oz_ms
yahoo group has as much traffic in a month as the main list had in a
day, so for me, its neither here nor there.

Local spin-offs from my experience only serve to divide a group,
I've experienced it with a number of forums, the main one that
springs to mind was the US based GM gen III LS1 group.

If it goes ahead, I'll be there, if it doesnt, I'll be here :)

Eminence has raised the idea of a separate Oz section on the new MS
site and Lance has asked for expressions of interest.
What do you guys think?
The offers on the table.
You can reply to him on this thread.

I afraid I have to disagree with you there.
It's MUCH MUCH better :-)
I hated trawling thru that Yahoo board trying to pick up the threads.
The "posts since last visit" is a very handy option IMO.

My new login is bcal which is wot I use on most forums.
I've posted my success story under Alfa Romeo.

See Yaz at the new site.
