Hi David,
Which Rover have you squirted?
Any help would be most appreciated as I am over whelmed for choice.
Also feel the software will be the main hurdle for me.
I intend doing this project in stages as it will be my daily drive
(after I have finished with the rust).

G'day Dave, The link below was the old site that were supplying the engines, the
don't do the conversion anymore. I was effectively banned from the MS forums -
the minute you mention aeroplane they get paranoid, It seems that you can use an
MS in dragsters, racing cars, overpowered street machines, but it is taboo to
use an MS in an Ultralight aircraft engine which will be replacing the 2 stroke
snowmobile engine that is often used.
http://www.bilsamaviation.com/engine.htm
Anyway I couldn't get any help and I have bolted on a Bing Carburetor - maybe
I'll try the MS on another engine and not mention aircraft.

Cheers Tom C

There seem to be many chat rooms/websites geared to the younger

caught in such groups...people who are still working or recently retired...and
who are interested in traveling and chatting. We just designed this site for
widowers, widows, divorced men, divorced women, middle-aged singles, boomer
singles and senior singles. Only two steps to easy join!

Hi guys,

I've been terribly quiet on this group for some time, but thought I'd
throw my two bob's worth in regarding shipping from The States.

I buy a reasonable amount of stuff from The USA (we have two Cadillacs)
and know the horrifying cost of shipping using courier services such as
United Parcel Service (UPS) etc. I always ask the shipper for Unites
States Postal Service (USPS) Priority for most smaller parts, and
shipping does not break the bank. USPS is sometimes up to ten (YEP,
TEN) times cheaper than UPS.

regards, Terry

I dont know of any austrlian vehicles that had EDIS setups, but the EF
Falcon had EDIS built into the ECU it self so it still has the Trigger
wheel and pickup on the Crank, so if you are looking for a trigger for
MSnS-extra its a good place to look. Otherwiser there are a few mail

Greetings all....

I do have a little experience with EFI, limited though it is.
I have successfully modified and fitted a Subaru SVX engine to a VW Kombi,
using a much modified Subaru EMS

My current project is a little different that most of what I've seen on this
group and I'm a member on other MS groups around the world.... But the value
of a local MS group is greatly attractive...

My project is this...

I have a 1960, one previous owner VW bug (factory) ragtop.
Now like all my cars, this one is modified.
This one will be a little more special than the last.
I'm building a 2276cc stroker engine for the old girl with all the usual
HiPo VW goodies. What makes this engine a little different is the intake.
It will be turbo charged and intercooled.
Together with the MS-II EMS it is hoped to be a little more drivable than
the last engine (though that engine is quick and reliable with over 200k
miles on it!). I'm just so tired of Dellorto Carbs!!!

I have purchased the EMS, harness and Relay Board kits, and am now in the
process of sourcing the ignition components, TB and related EFI bits....

The one thing that is giving me a little grief is the ignition system..

I'm looking at the EDIS-4 set-up, but I'm not sure if these systems are
available here in Oz.... I realise that FORD used this stuff on many of
their products worldwide, but did any come to Australia that would be
adaptable to the VW engine?

Anybody have a 'heads-up' on this gear?

I'm sure, as I go, Ill be asking more questions....
As always, it will be greatly appreciated to get an Australian angle on
these products...

Cheers,

I just bought my harness and relay board and the postage through the US Postal
Service (1 x
3.54lbs) (Global Express Mail (EMS) (3 - 5 Days)): $39.30 Shipping Insurance:
$2.40
And the postage for my MSII was about the same....

That was through DIYAutotune.com..... Great service... Highly recommend them...

I've no experience with this engine at all , but I'd think the Megasquirt
would be technically well able to run the engine , However the general
feeling within the main group with regard to aero engine application is
the it's a no-no , Probably due to the "drop/life at risk factor" if
something goes wrong ! , Ultra light MIGHT be less critical , but it's
still a strong consideration

I recently purchased a 1000cc 3Cyl G10A Suzuki Based Ultralight
Aircraft Engine from Poland. The engie has Camshaft mods, an
Electromic distributor, MPI - but NO ELECTRONICS - The Manufacturers
went broke before they perfected the ECU. The Engine has been Dyno

Has anyone had any experience setting up a Megasquirt to suit a 3
Cylinder MPI engine?
An Aircraft Engine is not as demanding as a road car engine in that it
runs at more or less constant throttle setting.
Do you think a Megasquirt would be any good for this application?

Actually the postage shouldn't be too bad , The US Post office have a
Global Priority Express Pre paid mailer system that allows you to send uo to
4 Lbs ( abt 1.5Kg ) anywhere in the world for between us$9-11 ( Depending on
the mailer size ), Normally takes about 5-8 days door to door !! ( Better
than some of my "so called" express packs form Coffs to Adelaide with
Australia Post !!! Check out the US Postal sevice web site

I dont think there will be another aus group buy as stewart is now
living in japan (guy that organised the last few) so if anyone wants to

The good news is, u can order kits ready to go at decent prices from a

that expencive to buy em, postage will be a killer but if u split it up

I pilfered mine out of an efi camira, both IAT and CLT, easy access at
a pull it yourself wrecker and the connectors and sensors fit nicely
in your pocket ;)

just another shade tree mechanics suggestion......................
you can use the coolant sensor as above , if you have a careful
hand and a small ...as in miniature... hacksaw or access to lathe
the brass tip [sleeve] can be parted off carefully to expose the epoxy
encased thermistor and use for IAT sensor.......both then are similar
files in EasyTherm........2.5Kohm @20c.......
Juuuuust take the brass sleeve down to the epoxy.....maybe less than
0.5 mil and up to 10mil up from the tip.............works with
good response time( not as quick as an open cage but easy to get at
a quarter the$$).......................just my 2cents...[maybe over
valued]

                     cheers .....Ian

For coolant temp you probably want one of these:

http://www.bosch-motorsport.com/deutsch/product_overview/Sensoren/Temperature/NT\
C_M12.pdf

Found on VK, VN, XF, Camira, Volvo and others, or new from GM dealers.

For the intake temp many people use the GM ones found in VN's and Camira's.

After a lengthy delay I'm getting close to setting up my MS
controlled 202 in the next month or so. The only things I still
need to get are air and water temp sensors.

I'm sure this has been answered a hundred times before but.....

What are the easiest to use air and water temp sensors available
commonly in Australia? I was thinking there's probably some
standard Holden items that would do exactly what I want. Part
numbers apprectiated.

Thanks in advance.

Dene
