Thank you for the news, Pauline.
I have had a couple of people ask me privately if I knew about the
legislation coming into place considering my post RE: Can We Afford
to be Fence Sitters. No, I didn't know. This was just an unhappy co-
incidence. However I had been expecting something like this and so
have others - only we thought it would happen first in NSW and that
is where members have been checking to see if anything was on
parlimentary/council agendas etc. We were not looking in Victoria.
Pity as we might have found out about it a little earlier.
Does anyone know how this got to be a legislative issue in the first
place?
Cheers mim

of observers sat in on the meeting and a working party was formed
from 2 of our observers - Sue Huebner and Jan Cooke as well as Doug
Ford Peter Frost and John Cassar. This committee has the power to co
opt people to help but the main thing now is that they have to meet
again on monday and have everything ready . Various people have been
assigned various part of the bill to ananlyse but his will not stop
individuals helping- all correspondence to jansilk@... . The Bruce
Robinson letter is the sort of rebuttal and information we are
looking for so if anyone has any scientific papers re inherited
diseases in dogs and testing proceedures and what the clubs are doing
could they please forward it to Jan asap.Similarly any other
information re the dangerous dogs, the powers of the councils Tail
docking debarking etc please send over.Gerri Greig has been in
contact with the vets and there are nearly 200 Non AVA vets in
Victoria who have never had a voice before - these vets deserve our
support - more on this later as this Bill is our number one priority!
The VCA is talking of hiring a lobbyist - I think the dog world as a
whole needs a lobbyist and we also need a watchdog to warn us when
bills llike this are being planned !

night and to all those who are supporting us in this fight to save
Victorian dogdom .
