I have had quite in depth discusssions with Dr Roberston, and I understand the scheme will over time become more user friendly, but as it stands I would not even consider an eye test unless by an ACES member.
And for those that do not know, I have already had one of these ACES tests re-examined by Dr Robertson himself and had it overturned. But at least, this is a true test of the system, and not just a second opinion, or a thord, until I get the reading I want!!

Subject: [ozeyescheme] ACES UPDATE
Sorry that my message came through twice. When I first came into this list today, I sent through a number of replies only to have them not appear. I then discovered that I had been bounced (as the owner of the list I had not been expecting that) and it took me forever to get it but up and running so I could post again.......![]()
Anyway back to the important stuff:
This is a quick update for those that haven't already caught up with the October ANKC conference outcomes.
Even though I put forward a petition to have ACES abolished (which by the way was sent to the TCA to be included with other letters from the Tas Collie and Shetland Sheepdog Club to go to the ANKC conference) the real problem was the documents that support and are attached to this this Scheme.
(For those that want a refresher you can find all the relevant stuff in our files on this site)
A summary of the ANKC minutes state:
3.6 Australian Canine Eye Scheme (ACES)
It was resolved for the ANKC to request further changes to the wording of the ACES documents.
These changes together with other concerns are to be addressed by the ANKC President at a meeting with the AVA Ophthalmologists Panel.
I am not sure exactly what or which "requested changes" will be asked for – however The Tasmanian Collie and Shetland Sheepdog club will be chasing this up through our Tas Delegate and the Tas Health Committee and we will also be awaiting to hear the results of the meeting of the ANKC president and the AVA Oph. Panel.
But at least the ANKC has noted and obviously agrees that there are issues with the documentation to this scheme.
Cheers Mim
