this monster in action until 5.00 pm November 1 when
it crashes windows. I apologise if I or other

scan could not detect it. ( blame outlook 5 security
loophole ) A quick check is to go to start menu / click
find files / type in kak / and search your hard drive.
If present it will be a 18kb html file, this was how
I located it. Other nerve settler is to visit the
symantec cure and download it by the instructions. Whether
present or not better play safe and install the patch
from microsoft if you use Outlook Express. Regards

Well said Neil, I propose that we use this club
as the media for promoting local events and
communicating ideas etc, until the day we can form some sort of
national scrollsaw body with a bit of muscle behind it. Oz
scrollsaw club membership is a definite bargain and if we
feel the need for a picnic, grab a sandwich and a
cuppa tea while online. (it's ant free too!)
Happy

Tom. My comments about groups organising picnics
etc was in relation to a "national" festival or the
likes which I interpreted to be the intention of your
message no 27 when you advised that Wodonga had
cancelled. Yes running a local promotion/exhibition is a
great way to form a group and gain more members etc as
we have proved in South Oz and it would be great to
have a number of clubs across the nation. I would
encourage all clubs to run localised events for that is
where there strength in numbers and scrollsaw skills
comes from and it can be open to scrollers across the
nation. But if we are to run a true "national" event then
let it be co-ordinated and promoted across the
nation, effectively, involving all clubs by using their
local knowledge and
resources.

Regards

Neil S

Hi Neil, I disagree with your concerns at groups
running off in differentdirections, but all must realize
their time and venue wont suit everyone in
the
scrolling community, so that attendance will be mostly on a
local level. This also applies to traders, attendance
numbers will be too low to interest them. There is not an
easy solution, I've spent 5 years trying to get things
happening here without much success, I'm not giving up but
from now on my energy is not leaving my local area
apart from my website and the club on the net, speaking
of which. Why aren't the members using it to network
? Same old story, the US clubs run hot on their
message boards, whereas ours is stagnant apart from you
and me posting announcements. To consider a scrollsaw
picnic weekend is a very scary undertaking based on
present numbers and a lack of real interest. Take a
lesson from the Wodonga experience, they picked up quite
a few new members in their localarea, plus
you
achieved a similiar result from Adelaide working with wood
show. When all these splinter
groups gain some size,
we may have a chance at forming a national body. I
spoke with Mark Prichard from the Canberra Guild
scrollsaw group only this week and the only event
mentioned, was their hope to run a demo at the new Canberra
W.W.W. show next year, if you would like to email him he
is now in the Ozscrollsaw member list (just
joined)
Regards, Tom.

Tom. Talking to Graham Waldron about the
cancellation of the Wodonga Show he indicated that the
Canberra Scrollsaw Group was looking at doing something.
Know anything about that. I believe we need to be
careful that we don't go running off in a dozen different
directions. I don't believe the network of scrollers is big
enough for a number of small events. Being part of an
exhibition at the Working with Wood shows are great for
promoting the scroll saw arts. However I would like to see
an event where scrollers can exhibit and network
more and compare notes. If a picnic is not going to be
supported by the traders could we run one based on
participants paying an entrance fee to attend
and getting a
couple of traders in would be a bonus? Just an idea I
have.
The new Adelaide group "South Oz Scrollers" is likely
to be demonstrating at its Timber & working with
Wood show in July 2001 as part of Woodgroup SA
participation.

To all members.. The 2001 Scrollsaw festival at
Wodonga has been officially cancelled this evening due to
lack of sponsorship funds. The VCWC festival at
Templestowe has also been cancelled due to venue and
organising problems. Let's hear some suggestions of a
scrollsaw picnic or an alternative event where we can
demonstrate and promote our hobby. I had thought of
approaching the Working with Wood shows organisers next year.
Any other ideas? Let's hear them. Happy Scrollin' ,

This ornate welcome sign was Diannes idea and
came from a small picture in a 1920's fretwork

Welcome Kevin and the other members who have
