We must intensify our campaign for the withdrawal of Australian troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. We should do this not only because the world is a more dangerous place, but because it is right. It is right because 100,000 civilians have died. Right because of the social and economic chaos imposed on the people of these countries after two years of occupation. Right because of the torture and degradation of detainees carried out at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay. It is right because the reasons given for the war have been proven false. Right because the war is illegal and the occupation of Iraq is an affront to international law.

We feel Perth desperately needs to rebuild the anti-war movement; it is our intention to see serious opposition to the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan. We are calling for support from all sections of the community – to create a ‘united front’ that draws on the activism and resources of all groups and individuals who know our frustration yet feel we can do so much. Our goals – resist Australia’s involvement in these wars and bring the troops home!
