Ladies and Gentlemen,
I would just like to bring you up to date with what we are looking to do with the QKM group moving forward.
As you would be aware Belinda Thompson has recently resigned as the Chairperson for the QKM Forum. I would again like to thank Belinda for all the work she has put in in keeping this group together and moving forward. We wish her the best of luck and look forward to seeing her contribute as a 'normal' member.
As you may also be aware I have taken ton the role of Chairperson. This all happened at a gathering of the steering committee on Friday. Where we have made the following decisions. I would like to sahre these with you and get any feedback or suggestions.
- The Steering Committe will be disolved apart from the role of Chairperson (me). We would now like to invite any interested peopel to assist with coordinating Forum activities. Previous members are encouraged to apply. We are looking to have a steering committee of 5 (looking for 4 volunteers). We are not going to overly formalise this with an election. If we have more than 4 people hold their hand up, I will have a chat about their ideas and motivation and work out the best mix of roles and responsibilities. This could be used as a development/learning opportunity or an avenue to give something back to the group. Please contact me on cory.banks at gmail.com if you are interested.
- For the last few years we have tended to have a low period between April and June. We are suggesting that we run with a shcedule of bimonthly gatherings (next in June) with smaller activities organised if and when they come up (Eg: KM Guru in town).
I have had an idea that I would also like to share with you and get a feel for your views.
After Fridays meeting a few of committee members were able to catch up over coffee and talk about what they are doing in thier roles. This was a fantastic sharing experience and somethign which I realised I am sorely missing out on. Talking with people who understand what you do and what you are trying to achive. I would like to give other people the opportunity to experience this. So here is what I am suggesting.
- People volunteer to participate in a coffee catch up.
- These are held with 3 or 4 members in the alternate month to forums or more frequently if it starts being popular.
- There may be more than one group meeting at a time.
- The group is randomly selected from volunteering participants and membership changes each time the catchups occur.
- About a 1 hour duration.
- A coordinator is randomly selected from the group and they are responsible for organising a time and place. We sill attempt to rotate this responsibility.
- During the conversation people should discuss what they are doing and the challenges they are facing.
- If the group comes across something very interesting that they beleive should be brought to the attention of the wider group, it can be raised online or at the next forum.
So what do you think and are you interested. If you want to volunteer for these mini KM Cafes then please contact me.
We will shortly be circulating the agenda for the remainder of the year. Look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks
Cory Banks
