"KM Australia 2008 speaker line-up confirmed"
Ark Group Australia has confirmed the speaker line-up and range of
sessions for 5th annual KM Australia conference, taking place 21-23
July at Melbourne Convention Centre. Mixing a range of international
keynote presentations, local and international practitioner case
studies, sponsor-led client case studies and interactive sessions,
this year's conference aims to provide a practical and participatory
experience for attendees.
The headlining keynotes on knowledge management issues will be Hideo
Yamazaki, Senior Researcher at Nomura Research Institute; Thomas
Friemel, Research Scientist at the University of Zurich; and Dan
Connelly, a W3C Research Scientist. They will be exploring the topics
of utilising intranet-based social networking, applying social
network analysis to KM, and knowledge management and web scale
respectively.
Jeff Kelly, Director of Education Solutions for Hinchcliffe and
Company's Web 2.0 University, will content management applications of
social media and Gene Smith from nForm User Experience will discuss
anticipated developments in the field of information architecture
over the next five years.
The knowledge, culture and collaboration stream includes case studies
by BAE Systems; Anecdote; Australian Bureau of Statistics; Minot
State University; and Medibank Private; whilst the content strategy
and digital cultures stream will feature practitioners from Sensis;
The Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development; News
Digital Media; The University of New South Wales, The University of
Sydney, Signified; Via Media Communications; and the Department of
Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology.
Case study topics will range from communities of practice; creating a
service culture through better management of knowledge; storytelling
and knowledge sharing; and understanding the principles of
information management; to using classification schemes to enhance
discovery; optimising the accessibility of content and enhancing user
experience; Web 2.0 in a 1.0 world; and managing digital rights for
online information exchange.
The event also features eight interactive post-conference
masterclasses facilitated by several of the above presenters, with
the addition of a classification masterclass by Sensory7.
