Hi Corey,
It sounds like you had quite a great discussion. The proposed activities are
great and I would like to register my interest for all of them. SharePoint info
is also of interest.
Thank you
Denise

Subject: [qkm] KM over Coffee, 24/7/2008, Discussion
Ladies and Gentlemen,
Thanks for those who made it this morning.
Some good discussion, ideas about group activities and sharing some of the stuff
from the KM Australia Conference.
A couple of things that came up which I would like to share.
1. QKM Activities
Three activities were discussed.
> KM Australia conference knowledge sharing session in the next couple of weeks
(Let me know if you're interested).
> Half day study tour (PB & Thiess) sometime in Aug/Sept (Let me know if you
are interested in hosting one of these in future).
> Another combined event with Librarians and Records Management groups
(Christine Johnstone).
2. Lunch with Michael Sampson
Whilst in Melbourne this week I had lunch with Michael Sampson
<http://www.michaelsampson.net/> . Michael has published some research papers on
virtual teams and collaboration. Interesting stuff around 7 pillars of IT
enabled team productivity and a comparison of the pillars to Sharepoint. He
spoke with the Melbourne KM Group last night (mentioned on his blog
<http://www.michaelsampson.net/> - copy of slides there to).
3. Sharepoint 2007
We had a discussion about Sharepoint training and it's weaknesses.
4. Land & Water Australia
Shared the work that has been done by Nerida Hart and her team at Land & Water
Australia <http://www.lwa.gov.au/> and their KM Program
<http://www.lwa.gov.au/Programs/Current%255FPrograms/Knowledge%255Ffor%255FRegio\
nal%255FNRM/> using open source collaboration and content management tools
(Drupal <http://drupal.org/> , Media Wiki <http://www.mediawiki.org/> -
Regional Knowledge Resource Kit
<http://www.rkrk.net.au/index.php/Regional_Knowledge_Resource_Kit_%2528RKRK%2529\
> ) and they are hosting in a Green Energy data centre. They have an excellent
KM resource page <http://www.rkrk.net.au/index.php/Category:Resource> .
Hope to see you at an activity soon.
Thanks
Cory Banks
