Greetings all,

On Thursday, the group discussed the
html to pdf converter found in the 24 March posting of Jane's E-Learning Pick of the Day. The daily posting provides links and concise commentaries on interesting e-learning tools.

The parent website is actually "The Centre for Learning & Performance" and it "provides a number of resources, consultancy services and workshops to help you understand more about how Web  2.0  technologies and tools are creating a new approach to learning (in both in education and the workplace learning) known as Learning 2.0 or Social Learning"

Enjoy,

Bernie.

Dear Qkmers’

I am scheduled to come to sunny Brisbane at the beginning of April to give a training course on Requirements Gathering for a training firm IRM. I was told that they needed one more registrant to run the course and (unfortunately) need it by CoB Monday 17th….so very short notice. I’m attaching the blurb. It is a fun course; lots learning how to interview (knowledge acquisition) through role plays…and of course I put a KM spin on it targeting the business analyst as the broker between the business clients and the developers.

If you aren’t interested yourself, could you please forward it on to the appropriate IT people in your organisation. Of course if I get there I’d be happy to join you in one of your famous coffee sessions.

>>> note from IRM

The next Requirements Gathering & Specification workshop in Brisbane is coming up on April 1-3  and we need one more booking to confirm the course.

Below is a snapshot of the course and attached is the full description. Price is $2,050 plus GST and bookings can be made online at http://www.irm.com.au/brisbane.htm  (Please note bookings close COB 17/3/08)

Requirements Gathering & Specification (3 day workshop)

RGS is for business analysts who need to gather, prioritise and document their client's requirements for new systems, features or enhancements. This course trains participants in the skills and techniques needed to produce a Business Requirements Specification - an unambiguous, structured document which records the clients requirements for business functionality. Course participants learn how to design a high-level model of the proposed solution using terms and techniques which the client can understand and sign-off. This is a highly interactive workshop - you'll be conducting interviews and presenting your recommendations to the 'client'. You will learn how to:

- scope the project, set  boundaries, agree system targets

- write a Terms of Reference

- plan and conduct stakeholder interviews

- establish functional & non-functional requirements

- analyse and prioritise the client's requirements

- validate for completeness & accuracy

- document a Business Requirements Specification

- present recommendations to stakeholders

If this is something you would like to get involved with and you have experience in one or more of these areas can you please contact our Recruitement Advisor (Juanita Montford - 38546200) for more information.

I’ve been to some of their master classes at conferences and have attended their Sustaining Communities of Practice workshop.  They have all been excellent.  The materials are always very good and they give you loads of good tips.

I’ve also recently used their services for running narrative workshops and subsequent sensemaking exercises.  Again – very good.

If I were around on the 27th I’d be there for sure but I’ll be away.  I look forward to hearing feedback from it.

Cheers

Chris
