I am not sure about Australia, but when I did a Twitter Search
on"Engineer", "Engineering", "ReliabilityEngineer",
"ReliabilityEngineeering" - mostly all I found was ads for US based
engineering jobs - so it must be very big in the USA - no wonder
newspapers are reeling from the loss of advertising income in the USA

Greetings

Most of the job related web2 enquiries I have seen has been using LinkedIn or Plaxo (not that I have used it directly for recruitment activities or for promoting myself).  I use twitter but I am only at the early stages and have not really got any value from it yet and I am not sure how I would use it to find talented people.

Hope that helps

Hi All,

I have completed my article on the use of social networking sites for securing gainful employment. Both job seekers and recruiters are indeed using twitter. The article should be included in the June issue of Online Currents. For those of you who are interested in reviewing job postings on Twitter, see this nifty search facility - http://www.twitterjobsearch.com/

Be sure to check out the map that displays recent job listings by geographic area.

Cheers,

In the spririt of collaboration (and the efforts of Christine Johnston) we are having another joint event with local librarians and record managers.

The event will include presentations related to taxonomy and controlled vocabularies from Library, Records and Knowledge Management perspectives.

I'll be stepping up to  the podium for KM talking about social tagging and folksonomy.

The event is on 27 April from 8:00-12:30.

Cost for QKM members is $65.

Venue is the Rendezvous Hotel, 255 Ann St, Brisbane.

Here is the brochure/registration form for the seminar.

See you there.

Mike,

Sorry but there is no formal record kept of the conversations. They are very ad hoc and cover a range of topics.

Also when there are a larger number of people attending, there are a few tables with separate conversations taking place.

When I have been able to attend, I have shared some of the points and resources mentioned in summary posts to the wider group.

Was there anything in particular you are looking for?

Thanks

Cory Banks

Are there any particular topics people would like to add to the 'conversation menu'?

Any burning issues or fabulous new ideas you would like to share?

I'm happy to see where the conversation takes us but if there is something specific you want to talk about, lets make sure we cover it off.

Far to often I find these discussions are exciting and take us to many interesting places. Some things don't get the airtime they need.
