His bike, same as mine, gets bucked badly from pre-historic rear shockies when
negotiating the crest & hump simultaniously turning into the jittery sweeping
left at the top of the hill.

behind the slick Scooterlife / Scootopia Super 9 & PMX piloted by Ben   & R1Hoon
  respectively.

29.3.09 (yet another) Race Report

Here's a 6-minute vid of all the fun.

The forecast threat of increasing showers???

The day turned out to be the most refreshing yet! Just goes to show: don't believe it until you see it. Not even a sprinkle!

I think the only moisture about was from 1st place getter K-Star   having so much fun ! Seriously though, he was enjoying the grunt of his Bug Agility to carve up the track, & with new tyres of Michelin & IRC to hold up the bulk of the Agility he certainly enjoyed the challenge of the new (to him) circuit.

I was out filming with 3 cams on the bike trying to mix it up with the various battles out there.
One of my cams broke free from the underside of the bike with the heavy shaking the bike gets, & the safety zippies saved it from bouncing around the track & causing a hazzard......as it was it, it got dragged by my bike & was flailing around, causing me to get a black flag to alert me.
Only scuffing to the body of the ATC2K cam....no damage.

The Lammy lost its muffler at one stage, & my endless supplies of fencing wire were utilised for repairs.
Tony had some good performances & looked like he could be up in top placings. His bike, same as mine, gets bucked badly from pre-historic rear shockies when negotiating the crest & hump simultaniously turning into the jittery sweeping left at the top of the hill.

My Monza got an airing as a loaner, & that spiffy aftermarket shocky showed its worth over the bumps. Shod with Sava tyres that needed a good beating to clean 'em up, they certainly were appreciated for their grip. However, I'd like to think it was only the tired piston rings possibly contributing to it lagging behind the slick Scooterlife / Scootopia Super 9 & PMX piloted by Ben   & R1Hoon   respectively.

The iScooter guys, Sean & Tim were enjoying the extra numbers & competition. I think their bog standard 50's will undergo a metamorphoses next time out as they were checking out the mods   to some of the bikes.

Shelley enjoyed the extra company of 50's on her Scooterstyle Bandit......manically laughing her head orf   throughout the racing & upon every return to the pits. Even a spill, cutting the 2nd corner too tight into the apex, & losing it on loose dried sediment, sending her skidding across the track didn't dampen her one bit. Got a whopper bruise as a souvenir though!

Jason's son, Sam, was out on his motard as only 1 of 2 juniors out there. The JTyphoon Gene is there 100%, & Sam quickly learned the new track & was tackling the "seasoned" competitor by the horns in no time. Sam tookout line honours.

I hope more juniors will join in the fun with scooters, motards & mini motos. It must be so rewarding for any parent to see that look of elation, excitment & thought in their youngun's face.

Next time out: All bikes must have oggy knobs.
Gotta check your bike's gouge points & prevent the track from being damaged. Paul is doing a special deal to help you get on the track.

Scooter Racing is certainly alive and well at Lakeside!

We had 9 bikes in the field which was great to see. There was also a great
variety from different brands to different capacities. It was great to see Tony
out on his Lammy proving the older bikes are still loads of fun on the track.
Sean and Tim were out on Daelim and Peugeot fresh from the packets and they had
a ball, now planning mods like good rubber and sure to be back. Rob and Shel had

We had quite a few spectators too which was great support including Jareth and
his partner Alisha who was taking some photos for her scooter culture uni work.
Everyone is looking forward to seeing those goodies.......
Judy and James made it out too (would have felt like a short ride compared to
Blackbutt) for some recon work for Jason who is planning to join the good times
with a Runner 180 2stroke.

I'm sure the Vespa will be fine.  It's safety they're more concerned with, that the bike has decent brakes etc etc.

I'll be concentrating on getting some good footage than racing as I'm having the wide angle handycam on the back of the bike & 2 ATCK cams, too.

Don't forget: plenty of drink, food, headache tablets, sun cover, rain cover etc etc.

CU there!

Good morning Mark and other fellow scooterists,

As a recently new member and first time blogger I watch with interest at upcoming events. I have just up-sized from a 50cc to a 200cc beastie and am very keen for a longer jaunt than just through the suburbs of south Brissie.

Mark, this sounds like a great idea. I'd be a starter. When did you have in mind?

 Cheers, Julz.

Hi all,
a good mate of mine has just opened a new cafe on the Redcliffe Peninsula at Margate Beach. I though all us scooterist my enjoy a ride up here and take in the seafood and other Greek food. The shop is called "Seafood Lovers Café" and is right on Margate Beach, it has a fantastic aspect and wonderful atmosphere and if you close you eyes just right it is just like scootering in Italy. If we get a bigger enough group I will see if we can get a deal.

Ok Benito, see you then and everyone else. Will be good if there are 10 scooters
on track. There were quite a few scooters parked in the city here in Melbourne.
Down here bikes and scooters can park on any footpath.

Well done Mr Bee and thanks for arranging an awesome day,

Jude and I had a great time and I'm sure James is still waxing Irish about the
day, to be sure.

Was a treat to witness Benito's fun and games with the unsuspecting CBR600RR
rider - perhaps next time the "bike cam" will have full batteries so we can have
the appropriate evidence of Ben's exploits. You almost feel sorry for the poor
guy on the CBR600RR - especially if he happened to see himself on You-Tube...

I'll bet he was down at Scooter Scooter this morning eyeing off a GTS300. I
understand there is a nicely run in white one there with a seat the shape of
Ben's butt!

As for the tender rumps, I have to say after sampling the perch of certain other
Italian steeds known to frequent our garage, the Nexus was a bit of an armchair.

Same again next week end anyone...

Thanks again and bye for now,

Double J's

Hi everyone. Glad you had a good ride yesterday. I'm in melbourne visiting my
sister. It sure is a long way here by road. Did it in 3 days staying in Moree
and Grong Grong (near Narrandera). Will probably be back on sunday for lakeside.
Will be interesting to see how many scooters are here in town.

Well said Mr Bee,

It certainly was testing and it has been a long time I have sat in a saddle that
long.

I had the usage of the new Vespa 300 and it was a fun and enjoyable bike but the
hard saddle really isn't the best for touring. What it is good for is fast tight
roads like on Mt Mee and Mt Glorious. The 30cc engine is a little lumpy down low
but once it spins up it is super smooth and has noticably more torque which
gives more smiles :)

It was great to ride with Jason, Judy and James. Jason is also keen as mustard
to get on the track at lakeside in the coming months. We look forward to seeing
you out there soon. I was very jealous of Kerry's sheepskin and maybe something
I should invest in. The more long rides I do I wonder how I actually rode to
Dubbo and back on a PX! Very painful.

All in all a very good ride. Thanks for organising it Mr Bee.

When the going gets tough...

Six hardy souls (and ultimately tender rear ends) tackled the journey, with a
great and uneventful run.

Benitoscooterboy, resplendent in the leathers and armed with a Vespa GTS300,
proved the nemesis of at least one sportsbike owner. If you want proof that the
modern Vespa is a bit of a hoon-mobile then ask a certain Honda CBR600RR rider,

James (Majesty 400) Jason (Nexus 500) and Judy (Honda VTR250; another honorary

Here's some more action our maiden laps of the inaugural Small Wheel Sundays.
Footage thanks to Kelvin.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iC2OUpQR4dg

Hope to see some Scooteroo members out there.

The racers will be there on 29th, but on 12th april they wont which will be great for newbies wanting to have a go on the track & testers wanting the day just as a Track Day though they still do a line-up for racing after the 2 Practice Sessions.

It's no biggy if you're not sure or not wanting to get involved with the racing.....you just circulate during racing like Laren did.
All fun! B-)

When you search for "Scooteroo" in FB the only group that comes up is a group
dedicated to a scooter-ride-tour business in Town of 1770... this could be why
you have not had more folks join?

stop at the cafe for those as wants to, and then down the hill and home.
Probably six hours all up.

start. Any thing with two wheels and an engine is welcome, but much of the route
is 100km/h, so maybe 150cc and above is recommended. Since many sections of the
ride follow main roads, we'll rotate the ride leader job to give everyone a shot
at leading.

Hi all, long time lurker first time poster i think...(don't remember posting?)

These rides all sound great...this is all adding to the motivation to
get a bigger better scooter sooner rather than later. I still have a
50cc bug pronto....*sigh* probably wouldn't have even been good for
the run to the port hehe.
