The Port Macquarie rally was discussed at Boreen Point.

Yahoo groups/nationalscooterrally

Scooteroo will probably have someone suggesting an itinary for those
choosing to go.

Sounds like a great place to have this next rally, and it's only
around 540 km from Brisbane if you go via the Lions road and
Summerland way, which is what I intend to do, even if I am on my Pat
Malone.

A long days ride yes, perhaps with an early start, and forget about
the long lunch.

If any one else is thinking along the same lines, and wants a bit of
company, post a reply.

Hopefully, a few of the maxitag crew will join me, but no one has made
a commitment yet.
We will be riding maxis, but it won't be a race to get there.

Smoko Bob.

Yep....I'd have to agree....it was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend with a
fun ride, good meal, enjoyable people, and interesting surrounds! (not to
mention a few quite/cheap beers)

The organisers, and riders, are all to be congratulated.

Looking forward to another scoot ride sometime soon....a couple of hours
away from Bris is a superb idea...

Regards, jb.

Loved the bob sled.

To All,

I would like to thank each and every person who came to Boreen Point
for the weekend! It was the largest ever scooter overnighter run
turnout ever!!
Thanks for all your support because without that we would not have
had a run!
It was also good to see a lot of old faces that I haven't seen for
quite some time.
The general consensus is that we should do it again next year and
make it bigger and better.
So we have plenty of time now to start throwing around ideas to
either improve or make it more entertaining.
Keep us posted!
Special thanks to Don, Kaye and all the staff at the Apollonian Hotel
at Boreen Point for a fantastic weekend!

Also special thanks to Ben for doing most of the organising.
Thanks & Regards
Joe D'Ercole

Hey Everyone,
First and foremost, thank you to everyone coming along. Without your
support this run could have never happen.

We deemed the run a success with a strongly positive response from
everyone we spoke to. We had a great variety of bikes and even more
variety of people......

Thanks to the businesses that donated gifts so we could have our
various prize giveaways.
Scooter Style @ Noosa - Helmets and "scooter" mags
Retro Scooters @ Milton - Grip Sets
Right Round Australia - RRA Calender
Scooterlife - Vespa Models

The Scooteroo Boreen Point Rally will be back next year - Bigger and
better than ever :)

We will be back on the mountain in 2 weeks for those up for the
breaky run. We will keep you posted.

Bob,

Its just another Yahoo group.

It was set up to plan/organise the national runs.

http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/NATIONALSCOOTERRALLY/

Always looking for ppl to join and assist.

So join up and get known and assist where you can.

The next NATIONAL SCOOTER RALLY will be held in PORT MACQUARIE over the AUSTRALIA DAY LONG WEEKEND JANUARY 25-26-27th.2008.

Accommodation will be centred around the SUNDOWNER BREAKWALL TOURIST PARK http://www.sundownerholidays.com

Preferential rates have been arranged across a range of accommodation ranging from 'cottages' , 'cabins' and tent pitch sites, off season and twin share rates have been secured. Bookings can be made by calling :  (02) 6583 2755.  As an example of costs, Johnny has booked the following:

a cabin for six for $90 per night with ensuite facilities and linen rental for $10 for
two nights. So that’s $190 total for 2 nights (only staying Friday and Saturday nights) which is divided by six its $15.41 a night
each. They also do cabins with facilities and without linen which can work out at around a tenner a night.

please make sure you quote "SCOOTER RALLY" when booking, also make sure you get your off season twin share price. A $50 deposit is required for al bookings.

Although we are several months away, the park is filling up, PLEASE BOOK QUICKLY FROM NOW to ensure a space. Other accommodation is available in the area but this will be the focal point for those attending.

Moderators, please ensure that this information is disseminated throughout your members and all other mediums at your disposal. If anyone can get this info to any other groups or scooterists not on this list please do so.

At this stage a Saturday night function is being negotiated with a large central pub with a function room exclusively available to the National Rally attendees and a decent barbq style feed to go with it. It is hoped that a discounted rate can be secured and all this will be available as an evening package for only fifteen bucks per scooterist. Confirmation and details will follow shortly.

It is anticipated that the usual suspects will once again be good enough to assist with trophy's prizes and music and all the other things that go towards providing us mere riders with a hell of a good time but the priority at the moment is booking accommodation....

There is discussion in the National Group about 2009.

Trying to gauge interest for a trip to and then around Tassie.

We could truck it to Melb then ferry across and it 250Km to Bicheno from there.

Something to talk about at the meeting.

Below is from Sharon in Tassie.

Link to the Melbourne to Devonport ferry site:
http://www.spiritoftasmania.com.au/
Once in Devonport, it's roughly 250kms to Bicheno.

This is the place I usually stay in, only 2 mins stumble to the pub:

Hey Doug,

Sorry mate, The Dinners have been on hold for a while but we will
notify when we get this back into full swing.

The "Lake Run" is actually an overnight run to Boreen Point. I will
email you a flyer so you can have a read. We have 52 people now so it
is going to be a great turn out.

There is the run up Mt Glorious this weekend if you have some spare
time. We are normally home by 10.30 am so you can have the rest of
the day free.

Well what can I say........

Yesterday's ride was perfect, a great group of enthusiastic riders,
great weather and I was lucky enough to ride the new MP3.. This bike is
the best thing I have riden ever! 3 wheels are certainly better than 2
for grip and stability.

For those who didn't see the Vespa Doco.... YOU NEED TO THIS FILM.. If
you consider yourself a Vespa fan you MUST see this film. It is
brilliant.

If you are thinking about Boreen Point please contact me as soon as
possible. We only have bunk rooms and capming left. Bunk/dinner/band is
$46. Camping/Dinner/Band is $80 per couple.

Ride safe,

Benito - thinking how 3 wheels would look on the PX :)

especially their touring ability, and also to have some fun in the
sun at the same time.

Scooters, 438 Wickham St ,Fortitude Valley. Meeting from 1:00pm,
Departing at 1:30pm & Arriving at 4:30pm

Yep, have to agree....the Sunday ride was a lot of fun, and I'm keen to do
more of these. The weather and company make it easy. Also, it is not a lot
of time out of the week-end schedule but well work the effort.

I am fine with Thursday nights...pizza sounds great, but then I am a wog
so I'd have to say that!

I will do the VESPA movie too....but I'm not sure which showing I can
make. Not often we get this sort of stuff in Bris so I will be in for

Hey all,

Thanks James for the updating, that pic reminds me of the weekend and
having a great ride :)

If anyone is interested in doing anything please feel free to post
away. If 50cc riders wanna catch up for a coffee please feel free
also to post. Some of the rides will be intended for the bigger bikes
but this doesn't mean you have to be left out.

Is Thursday night dinner better for everyone? I know that it is hard
to get a night free for everyone but this might be easier for most
people.

As Joe posted there is a movie screening on the 13th it is:
FOREVER VESPA
SCREENING AT THE LAVAZZA ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL AT PALACE CENTRO
CINEMAS
ON:
Saturday October 13 at 5:30pm

Also there is the Canetoads meeting at the Railway Hotel (I think it
is)from 2pm that day. Come along for a drink and maybe a late lunch.
While it is called a "meeting" it is more of a chat and a catch-up.
Throw in a cold beer/soft drink and it is a great way to spend the
arvo (better than having to mow the yard, yeah?)

It has been a while since I have posted here, but would to get some
stuff going again. Thanks to Joe and Ben for the ride on Sunday - that
really helped get the scooter juices flowing again.

To keep the interest going, I have a couple of ideas and would love
some suggestions -

How about Thursday night for a dinner night at different places?
We could try Vespa Pizza or a few other places in the Valley - Any
dinner places people have been to - please send them in !!

Rides - Any ideas for a morning out or a longer ride somewhere ?

I'll think of a few in the next day or so and put them up.

Thanks,

James

FOREVER VESPA
SCREENING AT THE LAVAZZA ITALIAN FILM FESTIVAL AT PALACE CENTRO
CINEMAS
ON:
Saturday October 13 at 5:30pm
Saturday October 20 at 5:30pm
Sunday Oct 21 at 2pm

Director: Pippo Cappellano and Marina Cappabianca
Runtime: 52 mins
This documentary was shot on and will be screened in aspect ratio 4:3

The Vespa: An Italian symbol of a fresh start at the end of World War
II; a picture of optimism and of growing wealth; an emblem of the
family; and the witness of many love stories.

Exactly 60 years after its arrival on the scene, the Vespa is still a
cult object worldwide for young and old, a vehicle capable of
changing its look while keeping its own familiar design. The vespa, a
mere scooter, has remained in vogue for no less than six decades. Its
story runs parallel with the history of Italy and Europe from the end
of the war until present day, step by step with the social and
cultural changes that have taken place in the last 60 years.

The story is narrated with the help of firsthand testimonials,
exclusive interviews with those who first launched the Vespa on the
market, designers of various models over the years, those who have
analysed the Vespa phenomenon, as well as charming interviews with
collectors and fans of Vespas worldwide.
