I've not done any vids for a while. Last time I was racing, on that very windy day, I forgot the memory cards, & so only had one cam going. The trackside cam got blown over....busted alittle slipper clutch thing in there that I may be able to fix.

Last w/e was only mobile phonecam footage. I got one of the postie spills, not Wax's though. As usual, it's terrible res, & so I've not bothered to upload anything.
The day ended up getting cut short because of rain. Yep, it was steady rain, on an already cool & cloudy day, so the track didn't have any chance of drying out.
We've had a good run without rain, for sure, but raining on other days is preferable. Cool

Wax had a bit of a spill & duffed his ankle.
The postie bikes seemed to be copping it pretty bad with a nasty stack that required the ambo to the scene...no lasting injury, thankfully.

Wax, Sean & Paulo looked like they were have a good scrap forthe last race. Paulo's bike has certainly come up to speed, & remember, it's still a 50.

TGB Rob's bike was having it's maiden run with a brand new 70kit.It held together well & looked strong throughout the racing. Lookforward to seeing the TGB develop. As usual, Mini Moto Mechanic Dad had his hands full with his sons' bikes.

One of the faster postie bike had an early retirement from a broken crank! Shocked Ouch!

Despite the day being cut short it looked like everyone had a blast.

My day didn't even get started as I forgot my helmet, & I was already trashed from Shel being crook, & spending days nutting out an electrical problem with one of the bikes....so not wanting to push the tiredness onto the track with a borrowed helmet, I enjoyed a day of flaggy duties, instead.

Next racing is 25th Oct.  Gates open 8am.

Here's something that I'm not sure I've posted before, but here it is. Hilarious! :))

Jared,

I can understand your feelings and they are the same ones I have had for a
little bit now. It is hard if you spend time trying to organise rides and no one
attends. The social aspect of this scooter group is what is most important and
we reason we ride together. We could all go for a ride by ourselves if we wanted
but it is much better to have a great catch up with friends when you get to the
destination isn't it..........

This is forum is open to all people posting rides and adding their own
suggestions and Scooteroo has 184 members but there are only a handful who
participate.

What is the answer? I don't really know.

On the other hand I am getting very excited about Boreen Point as it is always a
good run and a good night (plus I don't have to do any wedding planning for that
weekend!)

I am still waiting for some people who have put their names downs to give me a
call with their money to confirm their spots/beds. Please call me asap on (07)
3252 5333.

Cheers,

Benito

I don't know what's going on either. At the moment, I really don't feel
compelled to get up at 6.00am in the morning, only to be greeted by 1 or two
scooterists.

It is very frustrating, because I *LOVE* the ride up the mountain. But for
Kimmie and I, it is not just the riding. It is mostly the people that we get to
catch up with. It is actually a social outing for us.

I have pretty much given up on rides now after turning up for a scheduled ride
and not one other rider showed. What has happened to this group? We used to be
so active. I think since a few key players have had to pull out of the rides,
everyone has lost interest. It's a damn shame...

Disheartenedly yours

Jared

I'd be guessing the mere threat alone of inclement weather would have kept people away.  :-?

Another well attended run.
Kevin and myself had a nice rain free run up the mountain and a nice breaky at
Maila tearooms.
I went home via Mt Cootha and Kevin went back via Samford to Sandgate.

So has everyone's scooter broken over winter or is it that you just don't give a
toss any more?

Do people still want scheduled rides or shall we remove them from the calendar
???

Here's a poster I've drawn up for Lakeside Racing which is available as a 300KB PDF.  Email me for a copy.

Well, I'd love to go on Sunday for a mountain run, however I think I might be
out of luck.

Since I put in the HiT clutch, and it has worn in, I have been having some
serious reliability issues.

The bike has been regularly stalling (which if you are not aware is a *really*
hard thing to do on a CVT scooter), and last night Kim and I were lucky to be
able to nurse the bike home from the valley. It stalled three times in a row at
a dead stop, and I had to time my riding to coincide with green lights (which is
also very hard to do).

It has got really bad very recently. The ride down to IKEA on the weekend I
think was the nail in the coffin. The bike started to stall shortly after
returning home.

My guess is that something is causing the V-belt to stick in high gear. I put
the scooter on the stand and revved it to max RPM. Then I hit the rear brake to
suddenly stop the wheel. The bike didn't stall (amazingly), but I did hear this
squeeling noise as I held the rear brake that sounded like a fan belt slipping.

My guess is that the Driven Pulley is getting a bit glazed, and it is causing
the belt to stick in a particular idle position. Or the Driven Pulley is
totally shagged and I'll need to get a new one. Or the V-Belt is starting to
delaminate and I'll need to get a new one before it shreds :(

I'm going to try and see if the scooterlife guys can fit me in this week, but I
wouldn't be surprised if they can't, and I'll be out of action until at least
next week.

I hope not, because I have grown to HATE public transport since I have owned a
scooter.

Wish me luck

J

3 riders showed 2 riders pulled out.
James had an exhaust malfunction at Glorious and returned, Sunny and I went onto Fernvale, then I returned home.
Where did Sunny go by himself ???

Very windy and very gritty, out on the road .
Hope all the allergy sufferers are ok in the next day or so.
See whoever shows up on the next ride.

So see you all at Scooter Scooters in the Valley at 7:30 for the 8am

With the dust storm that has rolled in (10pm), there's no way Kimmie and I can
make it. Kimmie is spluttering and sneezing as I type this, and has
categorically stated that she has no interest in being on the back of the bike
and having trouble breathing.

It is such a shame, because we were both really looking forward to heading out
on a long ride. Have you any idea how long it has been since we have been on a
good ride? Too long; that's how long... :(

Hi Jared... you may not get much of a response because its the canetoads 10th anniversary tonight and Laura's send off, she's heading back to UK for awhile.

Ive just got home from a 12hr shift (not impressed!! was only supposed to be an 8hr one and ticked off because now I have to spend tonight doing washing and housework to catchup -- no going out now) and just logged on to see who is attending tomoz.   If James would like to lead that would be great.    What is plan B anyway?

So the roll call for tomorrow morning is:

Kerry
James
Jared and Kim

If this is all we can muster, then is it really worth proceeding with the ride tomorrow? Really???

The reason why the Toowoomba run was so good last time (IMHO) is because we had over 15 riders in a pack. Great road presence, great group, great day.

My call for tomorrow is if we don't get more than 6 guaranteed scooters (not people) to RSVP by 9pm tonight then we postpone the ride until we get more numbers.

Cheers

Jared,

We should go regardless as I have been hanging out for a ride and will go if I
have some others to ride with. If we only have 3 scooters that is better than
just 1 scooter.

We can always change the destination tomorrow if need be.
