Hey Everyone,

Boreen Point is growing bigger and bigger everyday and we are in the
process of confirming all tentative bookings. If you have put your name
down could you please call me and finalise your booking and
email/fax/post back your rally registration form.

We have got a hugely varied group of people and scooters coming along
this year, from lambrettas(including Pete from SCOOTER mag on his green
Serveta) and vintage vespas through to italjets, modern Vespas,
Honda's, Yamaha's and maxi scooters. You name it it and we will have it
along this year.

Pete from SCOOTER mag is going to do an article about Boreen Point
which will be really cool.

I hope to see you all there.

Well that was a great ride yesterday. It was a really good
'rehearsal' for those going up to Boreen Point as I've heard the
distance to Toowoomba from Brisbane (taking the highway - not the back
way) is the same as the distance to Boreen Point from Brisbane.

I think I might have to invest in an AirHawk Cushion (as does Kim) as
we both had a chronic case of "Monkey Butt" after that amount of time
in the saddle.

It was great to see all the MP3s out for the run. I'm just really
glad that I had the mid-sized screen on. The big, squishy, yellow
bugs plastered to the front of the screen show how much extra protein
I would have received on the run up to Toowoomba. I wouldn't have
needed lunch! :)

It was a good test for evaluating the comfort factor for pillions with
the Topbox installed. Kim found it really comfy and the MP3 was more
like a lounge chair than it was before. The advantage is that I can
also do fast takeoffs without Kim feeling like she's going to fall off
the back. The disadvantage is that for me, I sit a bit closer to the
legshield. It's not as bad as I thought though, and the extra storage
you get is really quite worth it for long journeys.

I'm going to go and clean the bugs off the scooter now. Not before I
get some photos though. I'll post all the photos I took up on
Photobucket and post the link here.

Hey Everyone,

Well, what a ride! The route was an interesting mix of scenery and
road condition and the weather was great. I really enjoyed the road
between Esk and Hampton, it is fast and fun and Paul and I were
riding MP3 250 against MP3 250 and the only difference between us
was......well us!

Lunch was at the lovely little cafe, Cafe Barletta......opps Cafe
Valetta and the meals were really good too. I took some pics through
the day so I will post them up for all to see. The flower display in
Queens Park was a great way to spend a short amount of time before
the long ride home.

I really enjoy riding on a highway with a group of people, with the
constant lead changes it is like a organised pursuit team minus the
lycra!

Thanks for coming along everyone,

Benito Scooterboy

It pains me to hear what a great time was had by all in Toowoomba.  I had fully intended sharing the experience with all of you but things just went all pear-shaped at this end, preventing me from being there

I spent the morning running about like that proverbial headless chicken, trying to put various things in order before departing for the Darling Downs and the process managed only to distract me from things I really DID need to take care of; like ensuring that my wallet was in my back pocket.

I discovered its absence only after having completed the first 60km of my journey as I entered the Toowoomba-bound traffic flow on the Warrego Hwy at the Walloon turnoff – what a total bummer!  I knew I was running late and wouldn’t make the planned rendezvous at the Esk turnoff, but I’d calculated that I could just head straight up the mountain and ride around Toowoomba until I ran into a herd of stampeding scooters; easy enough to spot, surely.

But it was not to be as, without my wallet, there was nothing for it but to return home and give the day a miss.  I was so angry with myself!  I stewed in my juices over the whole matter, all the way back to Boonah.

Next time!

By the by…I have already received feedback from a Toowoombian friend of mine that your presence was duly noted by the entire township – well done, Scooteroos!

Cheers,

Dennis

Yes, indeed it was a fun day....an easy interesting ride, fantastic
weather, and delightful lunch (even if Joey is very territorial in his
eating habits!).

This is what scoots (and running-in Monsters) are made for...thanks to
Benny for again putting together a great event.

Now, back to polishing my red beast....

What a fun day. Good ride, great company at lunch, excellent cafe
choice and no incidents. And the good doc's new Ducati is a very
beautiful thing, even if it has some sort of odd-ball motorcycle
engine that only runs on two cylinders.

Having four Piaggio MP3s on your tail looks like an attack by daleks
in your mirrors, but they sure can go hard. Even at 330km, this is the
sort of run that anyone with a scooter of 150cc or bigger can do
pretty easily, as everyone today was setting their own pace, and there
were plenty of stops.

I guess my Honda has become an honorary scooter. If restoration of my
50cc Honda Cub was finished I suppose I could bring that in future.

Thank you all, and sorry I had to bolt early.

Mr Bee

from Scooters Scooters in the Valley. We will be heading up along the
highway and through to Toowoomba for a cafe lunch at the Cafe Valetta
next to the wonderful Queens Park. After we fill up on something to eat
we can take a wander through the park and enjoy some of the floral
displays that the Carnival of Flowers and Toowoomba are famous for.
They have also forecast a lovely warm day for us so it will be
beautiful and warm as we wizz along the highway.

I have put in a tentive booking for the cafe so if your keen please
drop me a line and I can firm up some numbers. Also please make sure
you are fuelled up ready to go prior to arriving at Scooters Scooters
so we can make a easy getaway from the city.

Ahhhh fresh air, here we come!!!

Hi there Scooteroos !! Can I just start off by saying that the trip up
Mt Glorious - was absolutely FANTASTIC ! Thanks so very very much for
letting me tag along. Your company over Breakfast was awesome - great
chatting ! I was so excited to be a part of the true bike scene on top
of the mountain and was very proud of the outstanding appeal of the
scooters all parked together! Now I was a bit hot to try a big ride,
but groovers... that highway to Toowoomba is long and open and I am a
bit concerned about doing 100km for such a long time ... so I might
have to play that by ear. I am hoping to get my hands on a scooteroo
shirt, I will be hunting for the link to the website ! I am also
hoping to put a request to have time off for your over night trip -
that just sounds like a hoot to be a part of ! Jools

Hey Everyone,

We have had a fantastic response with bookings for the Boreen Point
Scooter Rally. All Cabins/Bunks have been booked out and almost all
the onsite camping is gone too. If you still have yet to book, drop
me an email or give me a call and I will book you in. This is going
to be big!

I have got a Rally Registration Form in the "files" section that
everyone who is attending will need to fill out. It will be a form
per person unless you are bringing your family along. Please fill it
out and send it to me via post/fax or drop it off in person. The
event is prepaid only and payment will be required prior to event
closing date on the 31st of October. Last year it was cash only but
we have sorted out a way to use EFTPOS/Credit Cards now. Once payment
is made then you booking will be confirmed.

If you have any questions, give me a call on (07) 3856 3900.

Look forward to seeing you there,

Benito Scooterboy

Hi Everyone,

This month's long ride is up to the lovely town to Toowoomba. We will
meet at Scooters Scooters in the Valley at 9am for a 9.15am
departure. The ride will be a simple route straight up the Warrago
Highway and should take between 1 1/2 to 2 hours to ride. We will go
to a cafe for an early lunch and then set out to see the beautiful
Queens Park for the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. We are a cultured
bunch aren't we?

For those interested, on the way home there are a number of great
fruit and vege shops that have cheap local produce so keep those
topboxes empty and load up on some bargains.

Please make sure your bike is fuelled up before arriving at Scooters
Scooters so we can make an easy exit from the city.

For those interested drop me a line and I will book some tables for
lunch.

Cheers,

Benito Scooterboy
