Re: [suzuki250fours] Still no spark.

Hi Malcom, you do need the battery connected as it
needs power from this to the CDI or(signal generator)
in order to power the CDI up which send the coils into
action which then should give you the spark your
after. If you take a look ar the wiring diagram you
will see the orange & white wire which is the positive
or live wire, it goes from the ignitor up to both the
coils, then splits off to the engine stop swithes,
then goes to the lighting block where it eventually
gets power from the battery but it requires this
positive feed in order to run. Sounds complicated but
realy quite simple. It maybe an idea (not too sure if
it will work) but link your kill switches together and
see if you have a spark, as it maybe the switches that
are not connecting good. I had a similar problem here
on my project and it was all the switches has corroded
up after been stood for a year. Best regards, Craig.

check for ya, cheers, Craig.

Thanks Craig for your last reply.

Still no spark.

I have carefully followed the wiring diagram and
removed all
unwanted wires from my loom. I now have the plug from
the
engine (I assume is the signal generator) into the
igniter and the
other plug from the igniter to the coils. I do not
have any + cables
connected to the Battery except the starter motor
cable when I
turn over.

Q: When I turn over the engine buy connecting the
starter cable to
the +, Should the signal generator send out power
created by the
engine to the igniter. Or do I need a separate power
source to
the igniteror engine.

Note: I do not have a regulator rectifier connected.
The 3 yellow
cables from the engine (alternator I'm guessing) are
not
connected to a rectifier.

I hope I have made sense.

Thanks in advance

Malcolm
