Hi James (?),
It sounds like a bargain, but that all depends. You should be aware
that these bikes are very rare, getting parts for them is reasonably
difficult as there aren't many about in the wreckers, and Suzuki has
discontinued some parts. That's not to say that getting parts for them
is impossible, quite a few parts from other models (bar engine
components) will fit, but it's a lot harder than, say, a CBR250RR or
something more common.
I'd be checking to see if the bike is complete/original or needs work,
if it has compression/spark and if it will start (which you say it
won't). If it doesn't start, then it could simply be gummed-up carb's,
or more seriously - it may need a rebuild.
Does the tank have rust, are the wheel bearings ok, does the seat need
re-covering, do the electrics work? Why was it stored in the first
place?
The missing exhaust could be a problem - though the remaining pipe is
probably rusted out anyway and may need replacing, you'd be looking at a
few $$ for replacement pipes (and fitting) :)
If you're in Melbourne I could take a quick look (for a liquid reward),
though I'm not going to guarantee that I'm an expert or that I even know
what I'm talking about.. :P
Do you have any pictures?
Cheers,
Carl
