Still no spark.

I have carefully followed the wiring diagram and removed all
unwanted wires from my loom. I now have the plug from the
engine (I assume is the signal generator) into the igniter and the
other plug from the igniter to the coils. I do not have any + cables
connected to the Battery except the starter motor cable when I
turn over.

Q: When I turn over the engine buy connecting the starter cable to
the +, Should the signal generator send out power created by the
engine to the igniter. Or do I need a separate power source to
the igniteror engine.

Note: I do not have a regulator rectifier connected. The 3 yellow
cables from the engine (alternator I'm guessing) are not
connected to a rectifier.

I hope I have made sense.

Hi Malcom, you do need the battery connected as it needs power from this to the CDI or(signal generator) in order to power the CDI up which send the coils into...
