If no one has a better copy of the wiring diagram, then where is the
rectifier mounted and what colours are the wires?

cheers

Howdy All

Does anyone have a better, clearer copy of the wiring diagram for the
GS250FW? I am trying to clean up my wiring but am finding it
difficult to read the colours, etc.

Much appreciated.

Cheers
Scott

Mine had problems mid range too, But I found that the more I ride it
the better it gets! Also some previous owner had put a larger front
sprocket on, changing it for a std one improved things no end, heaps
more fun, reduced mid range problems and lots more go!
My bike really goes well in the higher rev range, pulls like a 2
stroke power band, great fun factor.
I adjusted my mixtures by unbolting the back of the tank and chocking
it up, lots more room.
Cheers Ben.

Pity you're in Melbourne. Would have been good to have a bit of a
cruise. Hoping to get mine on the road soon. Just need to save for
rego money. Getting excited though. Can't believe how good it is
starting now. First flick, no choke. This was a previous forum
members bike that they could never get running.

cheers
Scott

Thats great news Scott, it seems their are a few of us getting our
bikes back on the road. I just had mine rego'd this morning and went
for an 80km ride. I forgot how much fun it is! When I got it rego'd
the guy at the desk said it hadn't been registered since 2001. My
bike seems to break down a bit between 5000 and 5500rpm's but I have
put some carby cleaner in the tank with some premium fuel and its
getting better the more I ride. When adjusting the Idle screws I
found it easy to use a small stubby flathead screw driver. If you are
after some decals after you have finished painting it, let me know as
I was able to source some here recently in Aus quite cheaply. Let us
know when your on the road!!! Regards, Mark.

I have had my GS250FW in pieces for so long that I can't remember when
it was running last. I finally stripped the carbs, painted the frame
and exhaust and put it all back together today. Guess what? It
started first flick after priming the carbs!

Runs pretty good but wont idle right as I have not set the mixtures or
idle speed yet. Speaking of which, how the hell are you supposed to
set mixtures when there is a fuel tank blocking access to the two
inside needles?

Got some fork seals on the way ($20.75 delivered to anywhere in Aus!).
I am fibre glassing some cracks on the fairing and one of the
blinkers. A bit of red paint and then new tyres and it is off for rego.

Soon to be another GS250FW back on the road.

cheers

Looks like I will be getting the BT45's. Found the right sizes after
talking to some other suppliers. $110 Front and $130 rear. But my
friends father is a rep for the QLD tyre ditributors so I might get
them a fair bit cheaper!

I'm running a Bridgestone Battlax BT45 100/90/16 on front, very happy
with it, going to fit same brand to rear in a 110/90/18. No problem
getting these sizes here in Melbourne.

Hey All

I'm looking at putting some new rubber on my GS250FW but not sure what
size. On the bike now are Front 100/90/16 Rear 110/90/18. The
workshop manual off here says 100/90/18 for the rear. And the
smallest I can find is 120/90/18 for the rear? What should I do?

What size and brand do you all run?

cheers

Hey all, I've been a bit of a lurker here for a while. I have a
GS250FW that should be on the road in the next month or so. My though
was that perhaps we should start a thread with suppliers, part numbers
and prices of the things that we find. Might help us all out. If
everyone posts the info up, I will start a database to keep track of
it all to make life a bit easier for everyone.

Stevens Motorcycles in Melbourne which I was hopeful would be helpful in finding
parts for my 83' GS250FW. I spoke with a parts man for 20 minutes long distance
from the USA and followed up with engine and frame numbers via email. Neil (?)
said he could find the parts and would get back to me with prices etc. Never
heard from him again and have sent two other emails to the parts department

carbs? Any help or advise appreciated.

Thanks John, it was a lot of hard work as you can imagine and took
around 6 months to complete although I was only working on it on my
week ends so I suppose it wasn't too bad. It wouldn't have taken so
long normally but I wanted, and had to change things like the
indicators, hand grips and a new seat. The decals took a bit of time to
arrange and get in too. Regards, Mark

Hi Mark,

Hi Guy's. Just thought I would post and let you know that my Decals
have finally come through from Queensland! They turned out great and I
have posted a pic in the members photo's. If anyone is interested and
are going to respray their bike these decals are laser cut, really good
quality and inexpensive. They can also be clear coated. They come in a
pack of 6 and in almost any colour (I got mine in chrome). Gwen, the
lady that made these was extremely helpful and said any members who
would like to order some should get in touch with her at
bronmoto@... and she would be happy to help! They cost me
$36.99Au, excluding postage. The postage was $1.50 to Melb. She will do
international postage for those members who live outside Australia but
email her for the cost.

Hey people. Is there any one out there looking for decals for their
GS250FW? After getting my bike ready for a respray I began searching
for decals and found that they are a bit hard to come by or really
expensive. I have been able to source some here in Australia! I ordered
2 for my tank and although they are not originals they look fantastic
and only cost me $8.49 including postage. They make these in any colour
you need! I got back in touch with the company to see about decals for
the side covers and bikini fairing. I had to send them a pic of it and
they are going to try and reproduce them. They said that they can't
make them exactly the same but that they could get close. The actual
pinstripng they can't do because they don't have a bike there to get
the correct dimensions off, but these are a cinch to do yourself. When
I get my side cover decals I'll post again and if your interested in
getting some, let me know!

Hey Ben, thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I live in Woori Yallock which
is in the Yarra Valley, so Peter Stevens in Ringwood is close to me. I
appreciate the info. I will give them a call. Regards,
Mark Cowling

   I use Peter Stevens. www.peterstevens.com.au

The "locations" tab on their web site has all contact details etc

I would call them, don't know if they respond quick to emails, never
   tried.

The dealer I went through is in Ringwood. Although I can't see it
making much difference who you use.

Where abouts are you? I might be able to help further if you are local.

Mick Hone mototcycles is supposed to be good too, although I've never
had to use them, and when I've gotten quotes they have been a bit more
   expensive. their site is: http://www.mickhone.com.au/

I've also bought second hand stuff out of a bike shop in Elizabeth st
in Melbourne. I think its called "Motabits" Thir prices I feel are a
bit high, don't be afraid to go in and offer what you think it's worth!.

Again I've never had a hassle getting anything yet, sometimes a few
days wait, but no more than three.

If anyone needs Honda parts, I've got an excelent Honda dealer I use also.

   Hope This helps,
   Ben.
