I'm Rafael Gagliotti, brasilian sailer of 49er and I intend to compete
the World Championships, so I'm looking for a 49er to charter.

I'd like to know if you can charter a 49er for me during the
competition and if possible, tell me about price, with the 49er already
in Melbourne.

Regards
Rafael

I know it's way past voting time, though since it was 50/50 and had a pretty poor voter turnout.

I vote yes as well though didn't have the motivation to find the website (I just read the posts by mail) to vote.

Lockie,

Just backing up Paul's comments. I think there will be a few more full time49er teams at SIRS, and SIRS will definitely be more crowded via other classes and maybe frustrating and/or a interesting depending on your likes and dislikes.

The nationals would I expect be more social in terms of BBQs etc, and since the nationals will be 49ers only, the class can postpone races a little more often/better to suit  the 49er sailor's needs for fun.  eg. avoiding racing in 23 to 28kts NE seabreezes or sick 3-5 kt easterlies. Early Dec generally has less "black" noreasters than late Dec, but it still can (and will) blow at some times on some days.

I suppose that makes the nationals look a bit more appealing.  Take your pick.

The difference will be that SIRs is conducted with several other classes, so about 250 boats will be around. The Nationals is a stand alone regatta so probably more harbour to play with. Both regatta's include weekend so the usual hustle and bustle from other clubs and pleasure boats will be encountered.

Hope that helps

In regards to numbers etc etc... what would people recomend we

Last season there were 15 starters at SIRs and 25 at the nationals.

This year there will probably be a number of international competitors around for both regatta's.

I think fleet sizes will be similar for both regatta's.

Paul

Hi Guys,

Thanks for these dates. Looking to make the trip up from Melb for
either Nationals or SIRS, unfortunately cannot get the time off work
for both!

In regards to numbers etc etc... what would people recomend we
attend?

Cheers,

Lockie

I know it's way past voting time, though since it was 50/50 and had a pretty poor voter turnout.

I vote yes as well though didn't have the motivation to find the website (I just read the posts by mail) to vote.

If not too late (sorry Rob) then I would vote. "Yes, restrict it".
Since the sydney 49ers real group is not so large and therefore not changing
often, and it is not hard to explain to new members that spam is the reason
for the only downside (I know of) which is the more difficult joining process.

Maybe we should get some of these websites to become the official
sponsors of the AUS 49er association... 1 website per boat!!

Certainly would make for some interesting pictures at the worlds with
their branding on the sails!

Yeah, but Waza's getting too many leads and would complain if I did so. The latest one for the over-50's was especially productive, so I hear :-)
