I have released an update to WBTrader (v0.98) as Westpac have made some
changes to their web site and the watch list feature no longer worked.

Thanks to WBTrader user Brian for letting me know about the problem.

There may be some other changes that Westpac have made that might cause
other problems that I have not found. As always, please let me know if

Now available for download at www.wbtrader.com is the latest update to
WBTrader, v0.97.

The new version fixes a few bugs and spelling mistakes and adds a new
feature from the Westpac Broking site which is the ability to view your
orders position in the queue. This is accessed from the Review Orders
window, just select the order and click the new Status button.

The new version is available from the downloads page as either a full
automatic installation file (finally) or as a small update from the
previous version.

Version v0.93 has been released with the following changes:

1. A bug preventing the default date from appearing in orders under
certain circumstanes has been fixed

2. Viewing holdings would cause WBTrader to shutdown due to a change
in the format of data on the Westpac Broking web site. This has been
fixed but as Westpac no longer display the same data their are two
columns which will stay blank.

You can download the update or complete version of WBTrader at
www.wbtrader.com (still free).

As previously stated, Westpac have changed their web site which meant
that WBTrader needed to be modified to work with Westpac's new site.

v0.92 is now available which works with the new site.

It can be downloaded from www.wbtrader.com or next time you start
WBTrader you will be prompted to download the smaller update file.

The easiest thing to do would be to download v0.91 from
http://home.exetel.com.au/john_avis/wbtrader/downloads/wbtraderupdate.zip
and unzip it in your WBTrader program folder. Then just double click on
'setup.bat' which will do the installation for you.

Mick,

A command prompt window is where you can type in commands like the old
MS-DOS. To open a command prompt window depends on your Microsoft Windows
version. In XP you click the 'Start' button, then 'All Programs', then
'Accessories', then 'Command Prompt'.

I have attached a file to this email called 'setup.bat'. If you download it
and copy it into your WBTrader folder then run it, this file will
automatically execute those commands I mentioned so you won't have to type
them in yourself.

Mick,

If you click the 'Help' menu then 'About' a message box should appear with
the version number. Current version is 0.90. If you don't get the message
box at all then you have an old version.

Also, I have added a setup file to the download now which should eliminate
the problems with installation.

Version 0.8 of WBTrader is now available from:

A few minor changes have been implemented:

1) Chart settings are now remembered and can be saved permanently
using the File > Save Settings menu option.

2) Announcements are now shown in the watchlist as the number of
announcements followed by an exclamation mark (!) if any are price
sensitive.

3) A few more bugs fixed.

Still to come shortly is an 'alerts' system to warn when preset
price or volume limits are reached.

Hi Mick,

Westpac themselves just went offline a few minutes ago which explains the
missing watchlist and could cause a runtime error.

My own server where WBTrader gets its ads from has been running very slow
every now and then lately which has been causing a few delays and again, if
it happens at the wrong time, may cause a runtime error.

I expect my own server problems to be solved by my hosting company shortly
but can't do anything about Westpac's problems.

It's working now for me so should be ok for you now too hopefully.

Hi Mick,

Westpac themselves just went offline a few minutes ago which explains the
missing watchlist and could cause a runtime error.

My own server where WBTrader gets its ads from has been running very slow
every now and then lately which has been causing a few delays and again, if
it happens at the wrong time, may cause a runtime error.

I expect my own server problems to be solved by my hosting company shortly
but can't do anything about Westpac's problems.

It's working now for me so should be ok for you now too hopefully.

I have made a slight change to WBTrader to hopefully fix that problem with
the orders.

When you next start or restart WBTrader it should tell you of the upgrade
and download the new file. You need to unzip the new file into your WBTrader
folder as usual.

A new version of WBTrader is now available.

You can download it from here:

If you are currently using v0.5 next time you start WBTrader it
should advise you of the new version and offer to download the
changed files (much smaller than the full download). You still need
to manually unZip the files and copy them into the folder where
WBTrader is installed.

Hi Mick,

There is a fw things to keep in mind when using charts. The latest version
of WBTrader uses BigCharts.com charts and they will not produce a chart
under certain circumstances.

If you try and do a chart of more than 1 month with a less than Daily
interval you will get a blank chart.

So 1 month and above charts must have an interval of at least daily.

Hope that solves the problem. If it doesn't let me know.

Hi Mick,

There is a fw things to keep in mind when using charts. The latest version
of WBTrader uses BigCharts.com charts and they will not produce a chart
under certain circumstances.

If you try and do a chart of more than 1 month with a less than Daily
interval you will get a blank chart.

So 1 month and above charts must have an interval of at least daily.

Hope that solves the problem. If it doesn't let me know.

Hi Mick,

When you read an announcement the program opens Internet Explorer (or your
default browser) to retrieve and display the ASX announcement. If the
browser is already open it may replace what ever page is currently displayed
in an open browser window. Not sure if I can specify a new window to open
but I will look into it. Thanks for your feedback.
