Dear Alisha
I have an Arab Cob cross filly a yearling now and she is just beautiful. She has
a lovely dished head, lovely straight legs and the most gentle of natures. She
has this lovely movement. I have bred Arabs for nearly 20 yrs and I tried the
Egyptian lines. I am trying to get back what I lost there and I'm really pleased
with the result. I think this combination is great and I think that the Welsh
Cob is a really easy horse to work with. We have just weaned our first pure D
baby and we are amazed at how they react to things. Every thing is so simple
with them. We are expecting two Arab Cob cross babies hopefully, at the end of
the year. I certainly will go on with this combination as I think they will make
an excellent show horse and I think that they would be good for endurance as
well as harness.
regards
Carol

Subject: [welshcobs] Hi all
Hi there,
My name is Alisha and I live in Qld. I breed arabians at the moment
but I have an ever increasing interest in Welsh ponies and cobs. I
have had a welsh pony before but I dont know much about cobs and
can't say I recall ever meeting one in the flesh!
I am considering breeding one of my purebred mares to a cob this
year instead of another purebred arab. Is this a cross that is done
often with success?? I have pretty much decided that if the foal
she is carrying now is a filly i will use a welsh pony or cob but if
its a colt I will probably go arabian since I really want a purebred
daughter of hers to continue on with.
What size are cobs generally?? Are the stallions typically larger
than the mares?? What kind of nature do they have?? I really like
the look of them but of course i know it would be changed if it were
crossed with another breed so i dont know if it would be worth it or
if i should just buy one!
Anyway I have done enough talking, I look forward to learning some
more from you all and will go now and look at the pics of your
horses!
Cheers
Alisha
