Hi Olivia,
I also have a bit of a grudge about gelding classes, I also do not
breed, though we all ride and I find geldings to be more shall I say
easier to cope with.
I use to own a sect A gelding and a Sect D gelding and the classes
were mostly combined which mean't I was competing against my
daughter who was only 5yo at the time, and after all the A's and D's
are very different.
But also every show has seperate colt and mare classes and the shows
we attended there were ALWAYS twice as many geldings in every
section than colts and mare's. And gelding classes are all sections
any age all together, and very often there was no Champ class
offered to geldings which mean't you prepared travelled with ponies
and children for one class that even if you did win you could go no
further, so many times I put it all in the to hard basket. I have
put my concerns to this to appopriate channels including Sydney
Royal to give geldings and there owners a bit more of a go.
Well thats my whinge for the day!
