Hi Bridget, glad to hear you like your new boy. I
feed my yearlings all the hay they want and a kilo of
grain or mitavite breeda each day and they do great
without being too fat. Sunflowers will not darken his
coat, if anything the linseed will. Feeding linseed
and seaweed I hardly see the need to give him
sunflower seeds. The buckskin coat colour will change
in shade up until their 3rd summer I have found. With
the dark hairs you mention is sounds like he may be
some kind of burnt buckskin, in which case he will
continue to darken quite a bit as the black hairs
increase - and turn into a really flash coat! Belinda
