Hello Everyone.
It is with great delight and some what
of a surprise that I announce the birth of a filly by Thomas ( pen nant
gold rush) and from cinta ( sweet meadows bint acallah) .
The vet had said cinta was NOT in foal.
We named her Emily so far. As I am told there is an Emily from Thomas tank
and this is who her dad was named after while here.
Emily is very much her dads girl in colour an cob type!
She has four white hooves but one white stocking an white down her face but
not over the eyes.

I was allowed to play midwife-a first for me- and all was most amazing!

It looks like Thomas- gold rush- is a filly maker, as Emily is his 4th filly
.

Emily just LOVES to run flat out and gives her mum a hard time by running
off all the time, even though she is only 2 days old.lol

I will be keeping this one and hope to register her in the sports pony
society for dressage and show jumping and hunter classes as well as part
welsh and part Arabian.

Being a part bred, I think she will be far too cob for halter classes.

Photos to come

Cheers

Here in NSW we have to have our brands approved through the Rural lands
protection board you can't just make your own up like here in taree the
brand code is 6 with a bar over the top then 2 letters so every brand starts
with 6 bar over it etc. They then have a copy of the brand and all details
of animals on land etc we do a return every year on animals so they can say
what we have etc.

All the Best I know at time things can be a pain in the bum and expensive.

I think this is a bit of a worry if there is no governing body on
brands in the eastern states. Here in WA you can go onto a web site
and put the brand in and it will give you the breeders details.
No governing body also mean's potentially two people could have the
same brand and be breeding different breeds of horse's??? it also
makes it really hard for people to trace a an animal from its
brand...It would be especially difficult for someone with a APSB
pony...

thanks again for the information. Thats one job off my list...

LOL, Kathy I see what you are saying too.
However, there aren't that many breed societies to check for ponies,
usually the welsh society, the RP
society or the APSB.

A central register is only useful if the details are current. If the
original breeder
has moved or died , you will still have trouble tracing a pony. Though
of course finding out the
breeder's name is a good place to start.
In principle I don't have a problem with it, just paying for it, we
already pay to register
our brands with every society we are a member of.

Cheers
Amanda

Hey Amanda,
I understand what you are saying about tracing thru the breed
societies, I was just wondering about any ponies that people aren't
sure what breed they are or even recued ponies..
Just thinking out loud really....

I rescued a cute bay pony gelding some years back ( I thought he was
welsh, turned out to be aussie ) anyway after winter when his 4 inch
thick coat fell out we found a brand, went online to the WA brands
registry and traced his breeder who was soooooo excited about us
having "Cadbury" as he was the third pony she had bred 28 years ago. I
gave him to her to live out his years. He is 33 and still going
strong...

as long as the system works ok I am all for it...

This is in regards to ONE of the Eastern States,In NSW, when we first
started breeding animals ,cattle as well as ponies ,some thirty years
ago, you registered a brand with the Dept of Agriculture .Then notified
the Breed Society, such as WP&C or APSB when you joined that Society
the details of this brand( and paid a fee to register it )
I assume this is still happening in NSW.
If you needed to trace a brand , it was a letter to dept of Ag plus a
small fee. Don't know if this is still the option, maybe there is a web
site for Brands here too! As to tracing Welsh brands, I always just
look in the back of the Stud Books where ALL are listed!

Eek, we have enough rules & regulations as it is I reckon.
We don't seem to have any probs with our system here in Vic.
You can always trace brands through the breed societies.

months old and weaned. He is very quiet has feet handled and a very no fuss
boy. He is out of our black unregistered stock horse mare dreamer and by our
black welsh d stallion Grenwood Cicero. He is a stunning solid boy with
plenty of bone / movement and feathers he will mature about 15hh and is
black brown with a star and snip and 2 hind socks we would love to keep him
a colt as he has so much to offer. $2,000.00 to right home. For more photos
or details chcek out our website at http://myweb.ecomplanet.com/JAPS3176/ or
email me Katie at skates@... or by phone on 02 65521046 or
0400521688. REDUCED TO $1,500.00

CLYDESDALE X PERCHERON COLT
We bought Woody with the idea to keep him a colt to go over 2 mares and then
geld and keep him for the kids but we have decided to retain our part welsh
/ warmblood filly from last year for the kids so can not keep everything and
my work is getting busier so do need to down size. Woody will mature 14hh to
15hh he was born Christmas eve 2005, he is a solid boy bay with blaze and
socks. Woody is very quiet he is fine to run with all he did run with 2
pregnant mares for a while and is now in with our 9 months old colt and 8
month old filly or he is fine to be on his own. He is good to float / feet
and worm. He would make a great ridden horse as he is so quiet. $2,000.00ono

SO SELECTIVE TB MARE IN FOAL TO TB STALLION

We have our TB mare So Selective for sale she was to be used with our
Stallion but i am wanting to down size. She is So Selective 16hh 10 years
old, she is by Select Price and from Monvari she did race and did win. She

excellent temprament to match. Muhib is the son of Red ransom and out of
Sensorious / Vice Region Muhib's stud fees are $1,500.00.We are asking
$1,500.00 but are very neg on price she does foal down without a problem and

Hi Megan
I am over it at the moment I can assure you.
Morpeth was fine, it is a lot higher than us. Even if the jewellery shop
was under threat I couldn't have saved it. We have been cut off since
Saturday.

The water level has dropped about a metre in our paddocks so we have
regained a yard and 1/10 of a paddock! There is a whole lot of water to go
though, it would still be 2 metres deep in our back paddock and lucerne
paddock. Will be bringing the colt and gelding back today but the girls
will be on holiday until the weekend.

Thanks for the email, I better get back to reports. Thanks to the wonder of
modern technology I still have to finish my school work!

MElinda

Hi Melinda
I too saw Hinton mentioned last night and intended to check to see you
were all ok! I well remember when Maitland had floods in the 1950's,
before you were born! It wasn't such an unusual occurence then! Glad to
hear that your house is not affected, I can't imagine going back to a
mud soaked house, my sympathies to any of your neighbours who are in
that situation.
Best regards, Shirley

Hi Melinda

When they said Hinton on the news we were thinking of you, glad you posted
as I lost all my emails in a crash recently, so didn't have your address.
Glad to here all is ok!

Saw photos of the lovely town of Morpeth (Sp?) in today's local paper with
horses along a fence line, which made me wonder how the jewellery shop was
doing in town? Anything need rescuing, though I'm sure you have already
taken care of that!

   Hello from Lake Hinton.

The Lyonesse Cobs and ponies are far from impressed by their new
riverfront
views. It has been very scary over the past couple of days. The water
reached our top yards, about 10 metres from the house. WE spent most of
the
past two days finding emergency accomodation for most of the horses, and
moving our hay out onto the road. Things are looking OK now as far as the
water dropping but 98% of the property is under water, about three metres
in
the low paddocks. Our lovely lucerne paddock is well and truly irrigated
   now.

Cynda, CAdbury, Dream and Olly are on the road enjoying the lawn and eying
off the hay pile. The other horses are on the top of a hill enjoying green
feed and spectacular views. They won' t want to come home.

THe town has been cut off since Saturday and probably will be until
Friday.
water is still pouring over the levy bank so I can't imagine that we will
have any paddocks until the weekend.

I think I would prefer the drought.

   REgards,
   Melinda
