It is vitally important that we pony people get our views across to the ADC,
as soon as possible.
I've received many differing points of view in regard to what might be the
best way to do this. To that end, I think we can do as I've listed below :

- The ASPR (as a representative body) will write a letter signed by myself,
as Federal Secretary
- A letter with no letterhead will be sent. Everyone who agrees (as per
below) can add their names. You will have to advise me via email if you are
willing to have your name added. This letter will not be signed by everyone
(as this will take far too long) other than by myself verifying that each
and every person listed did advise that they wanted their name added. Sort
of like a stat dec - otherwise, the list of names just could have been made
up.
- Individuals are still encouraged to write their own letter or email the
ADC if they wish.

So, if you are in agreement with what is written below, please email me and
I will add your name. A copy of this letter will also be forwarded to all
State Dressage Committees.
Margie - ASPR

For those that wish to write individually with their own thoughts, the ADC
address is:

The Chairperson
Lesley Sullivan
Australian Dressage Committee
C/- EA National Office
PO Box 673
SYDNEY MARKETS NSW 2129

You must email me with your agreement to have your name added to the below
by Friday 30th October.
________________________________________________

We, the undersigned wish to submit two options for the Australian Dressage
Committee's consideration in regard to the Pony Dressage Points Amnesty.
Option 1

* From 1st January, 2010 to 31st December, 2010 the height minimum is waived
and horses and ponies go all in together from Prelim to Advanced. This would
be the same as the trial that was run in Victoria several years ago, which
was very successful with riders, OC's and judges.
* OC's could still choose to run separate horse and pony tests, but if no
separate pony test is provided, horses and ponies go in together ie: no
separate prizes or points.
* At the end of the 12 months, re-evaluate the situation. ADC to invite
feedback from all EA members, affiliated EA clubs and EA judges. If the
majority are happy with no height minimum then stay with it, again, with the
proviso that OC's can choose to run separate horse & pony tests if they
choose.

Option 2

* Continue with separate pony classes as they are now (ie; ponies at the
start or end of the draw)
* From 1st January, 2010 introduce a ruling that there must be a minimum of
4 ponies/horses entered in an official test before points are awarded.
* Increase the minimum percentage required for Elementary and above to 60%
(same as Prelim/Novice) before points are given. It is not only ponies that
are pointing through the levels too quickly.
* Do not separate horses and ponies on the day for sashes/prizes, which will
address the extra costs that OC's are expressing concern about. Ponies and
horses are only separated on the official results sheets for points. The
minimum number of 4 ponies/horses and the increase of the minimum percentage
required should go a long way to addressing the issue of anyone pointing up
too quickly.
* At the end of the 12 months, re-evaluate the situation and the ADC to
invite feedback from all EA members, affiliated EA clubs and EA judges.

We would also like to see consideration given to the inclusion of official
pony dressage classes at the National Dressage Championships, with the same
qualifying criteria for horses to be applicable to ponies.

Hi Sam

Nice to see someone is still on air! Thanks for the accolade, I am still
trying to do my best with breeding good cobs, but Daniel is 27 this year so
don't know how long he can keep producing the " goods " ! Time will tell.
Katie is in foal again, so who knows what will come.

Hope your knee is all better, and you are able to enjoy riding again

Shirley

Hi all,
After lots and lots of work Jock (my 4yo section D)is almost ready to
be backed so I need to get him a sadle that fits properly, here comes
the problem. Jock (and I suspect many other D's) is a wide to extra
wide gullet fitting but only has 45cm of load bearing back (scapular
cartilage to last rib), he has just gone 14.1hh so is definitely big
enough to carry me, however the only saddles that will fit him are
16inch pony show saddles. I really want something 17inches and
preferably easier to stick to as he is still a flighty little fellow.
Anyone have any advice?
Thanks, Delwyn

Delwyn try the KN Largo. They go in metric sizing and the first size is slightly
under 17inch. I normally ride in a 17 inch but its fine for me. I purchased
mine for a no withered very short backed 15 hand WB and its been moved onto my
cob now that shes sold. Mine is a Wide which is a 32 cm width. Don't know if
you can get Barnsbys in Aus but Barnsby make a cob saddle. They are very
popular here in NZ for cobby type rolly polly ponys. Judith

Hi all
I am currently having to sell my sec c mare as the agistment I use has
been sold and after having my 3rd child I have little or no time. She
is bay 13.2 with only a small star. She is a proven breeder and was
broken in 4 yrs ago but was turned out to breed from. I am asking 1500
for her as I really need to sell her.
She is quiet to catch and do anything with..in fact she will follow
you everywhere!!!
anyone interested can contact me for more details on
janellekiss@...
thanks

Thanks everyone I am very pleased with how whinny is going she only just
started her dressage training this year after being mostly a trail and
lead horse

Hi and Welcome Julie, sorry no photos it was a bit wet so we did our
classes and came straight home
We are heading to a performance show on Sunday so will try and get some
photos then

A good park makes life easier Judith we will be testing my boys this
weekend, his first show and only his 3rd time off the property
Todays ride might have been a bit of help, while practicing our 20 acre
circles :-) I had 3 mare trotting around behind me
If he can cope with that then I am hoping the show will be easy, got to
do the first bath tomorrow that will be fun......

Neither can I Mona. Its just as well I have 3 others under saddle which stifles
my urge to want to do too much too early. :)

He certainly has the paces, athleticism, and trainability to go GP
so I cannot see why not.

Can't wait to see him under saddle :-)

See he is a clever cob and knows he is gunna be a grand prix dressage
   horse :-)

My Welsh Cob mare Grenwood Aeronwen won both the prelim tests and was
   Champion Associate prelim

You have gotta love cobs 30 min before the class I realized I had
forgotten my jacket, so threw her on the float, saddled up, flew around
to a friends up the road grabbed a jacket and got back just in time for
the gear check and her first test :)

And it was blowing a gale too

   Scores were 65.2% and 65.41%

Will have to take some photos when my new rug comes

Congratulations Sabina.
Cannot wait till Henry is ready for Dressage. Hes coming out 2-3 days per week
at the moment and getting groundwork and a couple of weeks ago when we were
doing our 'park' at the mounting block I threw a leg over. He did not even move
a muscle let alone twitch an eye.
Plan is to back him this time next year and then watch out folks.
Meanwhile he is practising his piaffe and passage (our private joke here at
home) in hand. He is doing well in Shoulder in and
Leg Yeilds and seems to catch on very well so who knows :)
