Hi John
so who you betting on? Local or USA? Bet the Man will get done! Colour breeding
is so interesting, have never really contemplated it only when putting a roan to
a roan as can get a 10% Abortion rate, apparently, had no probs with roan to
solid, but love ticking, my personal preference. Thanks for input, accually you
and I spoke on the phone yonks ago about the tail set in Cobs ( High/ low), an
article on this would be great, as can see the differnce now
Cheers Deb

April, Remi was registered by his breeder and I went in to the WPCS
office and queried his cream color registration, armed with a pic of
him showing he was a bucky but I was told that only the breeder could
change the color and after repeatedly asking 'breeder' to do it I
gave up, so his registered color is not actually the fault of the
WPCS.
But even worse I have a Perlino Welsh B mare registered as Cream ????
Go figure.

This is quite interesting for me.
I have a Buckskin that has "Cream" written on his WPCS Rego.
A Cremello that has "Cream" written on her WPCS Rego
A Palomino that has "Cream " written on her WPCS Rego.

Now all these ponies are true to their colour. I wonder why they were just
placed in the "Cream" box?

Cream Colour

A couple of weeks ago ther was a discussion on the Society's use of the term
cream which i found quite interesting. I took the opportunity to speak to Coral
at the office on the subject and below is her responseIn reference to the term
cream to describe colour of ponies as used by the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of
Australia Inc.

.Welsh ponies and Cobs obviously have their origins in Wales and the term CREAM
is used by the Parent Body to describe animals commonly referred to as palomino.

The Australian Society follows the Parent Body in this regard. With exports to
NZ, USA and UK in recent months it is necessary to follow their terminology.

ie Cream as the name describes with dark eyes, feet and skin. Some are a rich
almost gold colour and the palest are blue-eyed creams, nearly white with
unpigmented skin and usually white feet. The WP&CS of Australia has recently
added to this description :

Cremello- has blue eyes and pink skin which happens when you get a double cross
of cream on a chestnut base.

Note- dark eyes or skin is not cremello

Perlino-usually has points a shade darker than its body coat with blue eyes and
pink skin. Perlino happens when you get a double cross of cream on a bay base.

My name is Anna-Lisa and I live in Perth, Western Australia. I've been
completely, head-over-heels in love with horses since before I can remember;
neither of my parents are particularly interested, though supportive of my
passion. There are various horsey great-uncles on both sides but none in my
direct line of descent so i must be a throwback to a much earlier
generation! I spent the first 5 years of my life being dragged from country
to country in the wake of my father's job so owning a pony was out of the
question, but when we came back to Perth to live I finally got to begin
riding. I got my first horse at 10: he was a green, 7-year-old,
off-the-track Standardbred gelding who had been mistreated and didn't trust
anyone. It sounds like a disaster, I know, but I still have him - he trusts
me, I adore him and we know each other inside out! My Welsh obsession dates
from the age of 11 when i had the sweetest, cheekiest grey section A gelding
on lease - i was devastated when i outgrew him three years later and he went
back to his owners. There is just something about the shape of the Welsh
breeds that really appeals to me, especially the As and the Ds. I've never
seen a Welsh Cob in real life, but at some point in the near future I would
love to have a look around a stud. My ultimate aim is to own one - or two or
three! - but I can't see it happening any time soon, since i am an
impecunious 18-year-old university student, and already the owner of two
horses which I hardly ever see (they are on the family farm 300km south, and
i miss them like crazy in term time!). I've found reading the emails from
this group very entertaining and very informative, and i love looking at the
photos of all the gorgeous horses in the photo albums. Keep up the good work
all of you!

Hi all

Just introducing myself having joined your group today.

We are located in South Australia, currently breeding Section A and B
but also dispersing the A's to change over to D! Our only claim to
Cob blood on the place currently is my sons Cob x gelding.

My husband and I both show in harness when we have ponies going and
he has always hankered after a cob. Given the son has outgrown the
small ponies it seems time now to 'move up'. Some of you will
recognise my name through enquiries I have been making, hello to you
all again! For those who don't know we are starting to look for a
Section D stallion, broken to harness and saddle preferably. Mind you
the A's will have to find new homes first so if anyone is looking for
an A stallion, mares etc drop me a line!

We are off to Breeds Day at our Royal leaving tomorrow, it is wet and
freezing here so things are pretty normal <g>! Hopefully we can again
this year leave the rubber boots in the locker and show in more
appropriate footware. Also trying to make decisions on who will get a
berth in the truck to go over for the Vic All Welsh in Jan, very hard
isn't it when they are all muddy and hairy <g>.

Hi Megan,
Dandenong is still pre entries only. Programs aren't out yet. But the
contact I have is 9794 0562.
The last time I spoke to them they were trying for an overseas judge
but I dont know if they have anyone yet. Hope to see everyone there :)
Cheers
Lisa

Lisa

have you got a contact for Dandenong show, from memory when we used to
travel down its pre entries only? Also, do they still get a UK judge for it
(that was another thing in the past, they used to get the ones down from the
NSW All Welsh)?

thanks

   Hi all
What a great read. I have to get motivated to get into more shows, I just
can't seem to get out of this warm house and the warm heater, lol.

I went to a Colour Genetic Seminar over the weekend, put on by the APHA, it
was great. I have learnt so much in the way of horse colours. And the way it was
presented made the whole colour thing easy, every thing was explained using pics
and if there was something you didn't understand it was explained one on one
with the pictures of the horses to make it easy. A bit like A B C . lol

Hope all is well, and I am looking forward to meeting some of you at the
ALL-Welsh.

Hi Everyone

Below are dates of shows in the North East & Border with Welsh Classes.
Most of these will provide classes for all sections, with C's & D's
separate, plus a saddle class for C's & D's. I have not had confirmation
from all shows to date, but shows like Swan Hill have put on a very good
program for all sections, & its nice to see Walbundrie re-introduce the
Cobs. In the new year, I believe that the ASSP All Breeds at Bendigo will
have a full welsh program, not sure about the show this weekend - Donna can
you fill us in on the Bendigo Pre Royal?

I hope this helps

Megan
