This group explores questions like those canvassed at the website Dancing World Soul Kali.
Kali has traditionally been pictured as a deity who overcomes demons by consuming them. The vision of Kali can help overcome demonizations and anathemas of all types. A vision not only for one subcontinent, but for the world.
Goddess Kali (as portrayed in writings such as the Devi Mahatmya, the Mahanirvana Tantra, the songs of Ramprasad) is both gentle and terrible. She is Tara, the ship of deliverance, and Kalpataru, the tree of fulfilment. She represents both Nature (Prakriti) and Spirit (Purusha).
Kali's name has reached us through the Hindu tradition, as well as through Tantric Buddhism. In the last century or so, Kali has become increasingly known to Neo-pagans, Jungians, Feminists. This group, however, is not primarily intended to be about Hindu identity, or Tantric Buddhist identity, or Neo-pagan identity, or Jungian identity, or Feminist identity.
It has more to do with human identity.
In relation to other sacred visions, the vision of Kali is not a replacement, but an additional source of wisdom.
